Palestinian gunmen militants traded fire with security forces across parts of the Gaza Strip on Monday in some of the worst internal fighting in months, and at least six people were wounded, police and witnesses said.
Gunmen briefly shot at the main police station in Gaza City.
Police returned fire but there were no casualties.
Two people were wounded in earlier fighting outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Gaza City where gunmen were protesting over jobs and late salaries. Three other people were hurt by gunfire along the main north-south Gaza highway.
Such incidents have become increasingly common in the Gaza Strip since Israel pulled out last September and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas failed to deliver on promises of employment for militants who had fought Israeli forces.
