Elderly Palestinian seriously injured in alleged Settler Attack
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/703424.html

(comment... I wonder where the "alleged" came from? Might as well say... "alleged hospital" or "alleged conflict" in the "alleged Middle East"... but i digress...)

An elderly Palestinian, who was allegedly beaten up by settlers while farming his land in the West Bank on Saturday, is being treated for serious injuries at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.

<snip>
Israeli volunteers have been helping to ward off settlers' attacks to enable Salem's farmers to work their land. The volunteers include Yoel Marshak, head of the United Kibbutz Movement's Special Assignments Division and David Nir, a member of Rabbis For Human Rights.

Rami, Shtiyeh's son, said he looked for his father on Saturday when a shepherd told him to hurry, as he saw four settlers going to him and "something bad must have happened. We found him in a bad way. He couldn't speak. We put him on a donkey and walked two kilometers to the road where an ambulance took him to hospital."

Marshak said settlers, primarily from the illegal outpost known as Skali Farm, near Elon Moreh, had uprooted Salem's olive trees and set the fields on fire.

"When he saw our people were there, he stopped, but other settlers arrived later and prevented the tractors from plowing ... We agreed to work on fields further away, but instead of keeping the settlers back, as they promised to do, the soldiers and police permitted the settlers - who by then numbered 40 or so - to chase the farmers, shouting threats and waving their guns.

Comment:
Again, no law and order in the West Bank. It is said that Yoel Marshak physical safety has been threatened by the settlers. The Israeli police/army cannot or will not even protect Jews from settler violence? They authorities certainly show no inclination of protecting Palestinians.

Chris Brown, a volunteer who makes his home in California, and Kim Lamberty was brutally beaten by settlers, as a volunteer for the Christian Peacemaker Teams. This happened over a year ago.

It is but one of many examples of the anarchy in the West Bank. Time for Israel to bring their people home, and provide them with the help & counseling they need.
