Spare civilians in Israeli-Palestinian fight-ICRC
GENEVA, April 26 (Reuters) - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) expressed alarm on Wednesday at recent civilian deaths in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and told both sides that non-combatants must not be targeted.

Fifteen people have died in two suicide bomb attacks inside Israel in the last month and Israeli reprisals killed a number of civilians, including two children, it said.

"The ICRC is alarmed by the number of civilians killed or injured during attacks and military operations in Israel and in the occupied and autonomous territories over recent weeks," the Swiss-based agency said in a statement.

"International humanitarian law ... requires that a strict distinction be made between the civilian population and military objectives," it said.

"The ICRC calls on all those involved in the conflict to spare and protect civilians and insists that all those concerned respect and ensure respect for the rules and principles of international humanitarian law."

1. Is there a difference between military and civilian targets to Hamas?
Both military and civilian Jews are sub human rats and pigs, so why does it matter?

:sarcasm:

..dismal sentiment, even sarcastically, that you do. You have the luxury of being in the disapora and can apparently paint the picture as black and white as your uninformed self chooses.

3. and i'm not in the diaspora....
and in some cases it actually IS black and white.

and i wear a uniform..yet its my kids that are targeted.....and the palestenains?....we have a tough time trying figure out if its an AK-47, an RPG, a TV camera or just a walking stick....maybe if they wore uniforms, marked their cars as military vehicles, didnt hide behind civilians or shoot missles from somebody elses home, there wouldnt be this problem.

one side wears uniforms...one side doesnt.....one side targets civilians one side attempts to avoid killing civilians....one side shoots from behind civilians houses....

sometimes somethings are black and white

4. False dilemma fallacy???
My ass. That must be very difficult to swallow that bilge.

The stated goal of Hamas which currently control the Palestinians government is the elimination of Israel.

The stated goal of the Jewish state is to co-exist with the Palestinians.

What part of that isn't understandable or a false dilemma?

Right. Who sold you that bit of goods?

There is Terrorism on both sides.....either side needs to knock it off if they ever wanna get to a solution...
Meanwhile Israel lays on my pocket - and frankly, I'm getting a bit sick of it.....

6. I think giving up Gaza sent a message that Israel wants a solution
I'm still waiting for Hamas to agree that Israel has a right to exist. It might be a loooong wait.

7. Here ,leader of the Jewish State talks about coexistence with Palestinians
``The existence of two nations, one Jewish and one Palestinian, is the complete solution to all the aspirations and national problems of each of the peoples,`

snip

``The existence of a Jewish majority in the State of Israel cannot coexist with the continued control over the Palestinian population in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza strip``

snip

`
we will not be able to continue ruling over the territories in which the majority of the Palestinian population lives`

snip

``if the Palestinians abandon the path of terror, and stop their war against the citizens of Israel, they can receive national independence in a Palestinian state with temporary borders, even before all the complicated issues connected to a final agreement are resolved. All these issues will be resolved later during negotiations between the two countries, in the accepted manner in which countries resolve their differences.`
``
snip

``In 1947, the Palestinians rejected an offer to establish a country. History has provided them with another opportunity to establish an independent state. The actualization of this opportunity involves relinquishing some of their national dreams, just as we have relinquished some of ours.``

I guess as leader hes expressing the goals of the Jewish State....

8. Never let the "facts" get in the way of the good propaganda swill
people seem to swallow so readily around here about the Palestinians and the evil terrorist Jews who stole their land.

The amount of ignorance about this issue is truly stunning. It's like people don't read history or rather believe propaganda than facts.
