'I'm prepared to kill Jews wherever they are' Palestinian schoolgirl
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/A/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1063509761288

"We want to defend Arafat and kill the Jews wherever they are," said 10-year-old schoolgirl Aysheh Muhammad as she gripped a poster of Arafat outside his battered office Sunday, chanting slogans in his support along with her classmates.

"I came here to defend President Arafat against the occupiers who are killing us every day. I'm prepared to make a big sacrifice. I'm prepared to go to the Jews myself and to kill them wherever they are just as they killed us and destroyed us," she said.

Muhammad and her friends were among hundreds of Palestinian children who flocked to Arafat's compound to express their solidarity for the man they fear has been marked for death by the Israeli government.

In their green- and white-striped school uniforms, the children from al-Amari refugee camp stood sweating in the midday sun, grasping bottles of water and hoping for a glimpse of their hero, who they know by his nom de guerre, Abu Amar.

"Abu Amar, show us your face, with our blood and souls, we will redeem you," they screamed until they were hoarse.

........................................................

hmmmmmmmmmm........ 10 year olds wanting to kill.

I guess those talks by arafat about kids becoming "martyrs" really
worked.

would be an environment where every Jew she comes in contact with isn't a sadistic, IDF thug knocking down the wall and wrecking everything she owns?

6. True
Whenever a serious journalist (as opposed to a Jpost one) actually asks the necessary follow up question: "Who are these Jews?", the answer is usually either: "them" or "the soldiers".

The PA media referring to "the Jews" all the time doesn't exactly help rectify that impression though, but as you say, I'd argue that the IDF soldiers in their backyard have more of an impact defining their impression of "Jews".

Scrawling Stars of David all over the Palestinian territories is also not a good idea....

15. It doesn't have anything to do with contact - these kids
are brain-washed from the time they are born. If they could set up a program where these young "brain-washed" children could meet and spend time with Israeli (Jewish) children, I would bet my house things would be different.

There actually are programs like that ran by independent agencies but it's not going to change the reality of the West Bank and Gaza.

Seeds of Peace among other groups.

Of course, when the kids got back their attitudes started to sour again. They still liked their friends but their attitude toward the other either Jewish Israeli or Palestinian Arab as a group soured according to what was happening in the real world vs. their American camp.

unfortunately our hawkish government officials (on both sides of the aisles, to be clear) would rather spend taxpayer money on Israeli jets, bombs, attack helicopters, settlement expansion, bulldozers, and whatever else Israel needs to continue it's aggression and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians.

Makes ya proud to be an Amurrikun dont it

5. This is the reason ...
that peace in the middle east as always a generation away.

If the brainwashing magically stopped today. There would not be peace for a generation. There are too many of these people (on both sides) that are "beyond repair".

It is very much like drug addiction. It is a very sad situation.

Can you imagine being responsible for a 10 yr old girl who is willing to give up her life for "The Cause". Makes me want to cry.

Cheers

7. Israeli children witness
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 12:52 PM by Gimel
terror attacks. They see the results of suicide bomb attacks, homicide attacks on their neighbors and friends. Can this not leave a negative impression on their lives, if not traumatic? Israelis try to educate their children. Learning about the conflict and trying to find solutions is a national priority. Killing is not the answer.

On edit: This should be posted after post #1. I agree with what Drifter has said.

10. These kids are being taught to hate
It also doesn't help when American "peace" activists go to Palestine and show the children how to burn an American flag. This girls parents or keepers and perhaps school teachers are to blame for her brainwashing.

11. They're being taught to hate alright...
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 02:21 PM by Scurrilous
Every time they see a family member or friend killed or maimed by the IDF, they are taught to hate. Every time they see a house or apartment demolished by Israeli bulldozers, they are taught to hate. Every time they see a family member or friend taken away by the IDF for 'indefinite detention,' they are taught to hate. Every curfew, every roadblock, every humiliation teaches them to hate. The children of Palestine do not need American peace activists to teach them to hate, the Israeli government and the IDF is their teacher.

31. without a doubt
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 08:40 PM by StandWatie
As of 2003, more than half (53%) of the Jews in Israel state out loud that they are against full equality for the Arabs; 77% say there should be a Jewish majority on crucial political decisions; less than a third (31%) support having Arab political parties in the government; and the majority (57%) think that the Arabs should be encouraged to emigrate. On all issues there was a dramatic decline in support for democratic norms, compared to 1999.

Not only is the Jewish population unsupportive of equality for Arab citizens, half of them do not acknowledge that equality doesn't exist in practice; 49% disagree that Israeli Arabs are discriminated against compared with Jews.

I'd say I'm right all around, I know why Israeli Jews hate Arabs and I know why Palestinian Arabs hate Jews but you don't accept that the hate goes both ways.

35. My point is very simple...
very often, the majority doesn't get their way. The fact is, though, that if the support existed in the strength indicated by that poll, it would happen. The right-wing racists are in power now, and if this kind of support for those actions existed, they would take place.

13. "Dear Soldier, Please Kill a Lot of Arabs"
'Israeli reservists serving in the Tulkarm area during Operation Defensive Shield were stunned when they opened gifts sent by school Children from central Israel. Many of the students wrote them letters in which they encouraged them to disregard the rules and regulations and to kill as many Arabs as possible. Dozens of the letters were sent, mostly from children in the 7th through 10th grades who attend national religious schools.

'One reservist said he was eager to open the letter, but he was stunned when he started to read it. "I pray for you that you return home safely, and kill at least ten for me," wrote the pupil. "Screw the rules and spray them. By the way-a good Arab is a dead Arab." Other letters were even more heated. "Let the Palestinians, may God blacken their name, burn in Hell. Punch holes in them with your M-16 and bomb them," wrote one of the teens. Another wrote, "I have a special request for you-kill as many Arabs as you can." In another letter, a pupil wished the soldier success in his mission and added, "Say, isn't it fun to shoot an Arab? Here's a slogan: a good Arab is a dead Arab. A top notch Arab is a buried Arab."'

21. I can't speak for anyone but myself
and it does two things

1. makes me sad
2. makes me angry

Hatred, who can hate a child? Well, I guess the animals who held a gun to the heads of the two little Jewish boys being read a bedtime story when they and their mother were murdered. Or the 5 year old girl executed in the same way. Do I hate this child? No. I hate the people who sacrificed her childhood to hatred. I hate the bastards who deliberately murder children. But this post hasn't made me hate more or hate less, it is simply a sad truth about child sacrifice.
I'm waiting for the Palestinian apologists to make excuses. Some things are inexcusable.

24. Yes, some things are inexcusable...
such as the wall, the house demolitions, the high rate of "collateral damage" in Israeli attacks, and so on.

Anyway, THIS IS A TEN YEAR OLD! She sees and hears about IDF soldiers brutalizing her family and friends. IDF = Jews. That's a very simple childish equation, clearly ignorant to both of us. I don't think that this has so very much to do with hate propaganda.

In case we have any ten year old intellectuals lurking (and yes, there are plenty) I'm not bashing you. I'm simply trying to make a point about common ten-year old paths of thought when one is living under an oppresive occupation.

25. It depends on which post you mean

Posts like the one about the little Palestinian girl are to help people who are confused about the situation understand why firing missiles into crowded residential areas that regrettably and entirely unintentionally, of course, kill Palestinian children, are legitimate pre-emptive strikes because Israel has the right to defend itself against the crimes these children will commit one day if left unliquidated.

Posts like the one about the Israeli childrens' letters to the IDF show that even the smallest citizens are patriotic supporters of the efforts of their brave armed forces, who are always careful to issue statements insisting that they do not target civilians after every massacre, and we can all be proud that under 30% of their kills are children.

30. I suppose my post is somewhat banal
and frivolous in a forum such as this..where lines of conviction are predetermined and positions unmovable , for that I aplogise..I would however challenge the premise that posts regarding children and such like would help clear up confusion about the M/E situation in the minds of those still pondering an anti-israel pro-israel or anti-palestinian pro-palestinian position ..but only cements the position of those anti-war peace activists for whom this conflict is a crime against all humanity..
