Israel offering free land to encourage Judaization of Galilee
The Jewish Agency for Israel, the Ministry of
Housing and Construction and the Authority for the
Development of the Galilee have launched a
campaign aimed at promoting Jewish settlement in
the areas adjacent to the northern border with
Lebanon.

The state is offering free land
for construction, financial
assistance for development of
infrastructure and services, a
construction grant and improved
mortgage benefits...

The campaign will target the regional councils
of Mateh Asher, Ma'ale Yosef, Marom Hagalil and
Hagalil Ha'elion, and will span 23 settlements
in the northern region.

4. Oh, come on.
You don't expect Israel to be a democracy that gives equal opportunity to all of its citizens, do you?

3. That is equivalent to sending dupes to their death because of the
obvious and inherent danger. Shame.

7. Who's hypocrisy?
So the Jews are illegal in the "territories" but they better watch out in the Galilee as well. Share the land with the world.

8. Do you think it's okay to exclude certain groups from areas?
Because if you approve of 'judaizing' areas, isn't that comment about sharing the land with the world just an empty platitude? Whether it's christianising, judaising, muslimising, hinduising or buddhistising, I'm opposed to it...

Violet...

10. there are arab areas and jewish areas
I think that it's perfectly acceptable. No Jew would be comfortable living in Nazareth, although Arabs will sometimes take up residence in Jewish areas. But as for taking land, clearing it and developing it, that's like building a community.

6. Reminds me of the American indians
The American government routinely offered "deals" of free or cheap land to its citizens. The problem was that the land was already occupied by the indians.

didn't we all agree that what we did to the American indians was shameful?

9. Not necessarily.
"didn't we all agree that what we did to the American indians was shameful?"

Not necessarily. Read the history textbooks of grade school through high schools. The writers of these books often portray the oppressors of the Native Americans as heros. With Americans growing up with the idea that these people are heros in their heads, it's hard for them to say that they're shameful once they grow up and get confronted with the truth about these leaders.

On that note, why would Americans say that the Israeli government is shameful?
