Ron Arad video 'authentic'

The grainy clip shows a bearded man bearing a close resemblance to Major Arad and reportedly speaking Hebrew.

The video is part of a documentary, due to be shown next week. The Israeli government says it believes Arad is still alive but does not know his whereabouts.

The brief clip was repeatedly shown on television in Israel. Arad's fate has been the source of speculation for 20 years. Israeli media quoted his family as saying they believed the footage was authentic.

"It doesn't only look like him . . . it sounds like Ron Arad," said Israeli television producer Naftali Glicksberg, who helped make the documentary.

2. Mr Arad was an Israeli pilot, captured in 1986 I think.

He has been an occasional bone of contention since then. I think it would be nice if he was included in a general exchange of prisoners, and in any case it's nice that he's still alive. I expect a google search would turn up a good deal more. Here is one:
