Court convicts Israeli couple in attack on Nazareth church
<snip>

"The Nazareth District Court on Wednesday convicted an Israeli couple of bombing an historic Nazareth church considered a holy site for Christian pilgrims.

The couple was convicted of detonating an explosive device last March in the historic Church of the Annunciation, leading to riots inside the church and in the surrounding area.

The couple plead guilty by plea bargain to revised charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, arson, reckless behavior and improper conduct in a public place. They were initially indicted also with attempted destruction of property using explosives and threats, a charge with was later thrown out.

The couple's daughter, Odelia, had allegedly entered the church with them, but was not charged due to insufficient evidence linking her to the crime and to the court's contention that she was dragged to the scene by her parents.

"The facts of the indictment remain. The couple arrived at the church ready to build a fortification, equipped with tens of firecrackers, flares, fuses, and 19 gas cans containing flammable materials," the court wrote in a statement."

2. They, like the cross-spitters, are heroes to a protected minority.

From Ha'Aretz, Christians in Jerusalem want Jews to stop spitting on them

From Ha'Aretz, Jerusalem's disgrace

  If the government of Israel were not founded in such a way as to give Orthodox Judaism complete control over the civil institutions in Israel, things would probably have been much different and closer to the lofty goals that its founders intended. As I've said before, there is no place for Israel for non-Jews. At least the way the government is set up, currently. If you are a Jew who is reading this now and finds yourself agreeing, I hope you're Orthodox. Because the persecution doesn't stop at the non-Jewish in Israel. It extends, and it will extend in larger and more menacing ways in the future, to non-Orthodox Jews in Israel, too.

  It is worth noting, by the way, that the behavior of these extremists reflects poorly on those Orthodox Jews (both in Israel and in the Diaspora) who represent a civil expression of a very literal, exclusive group within a larger religion. It's not the Orthodox parishioners that have gotten so out of control, per se, it's the damnable action of a religious dynasty of Rabbis who are so intoxicated by their own messianic bullshit they forgot why they cover their heads in the first place.

  This malignant growth on Judaism is nothing new in religions. There are various, similar, growths on the other major religions in the world. This one just happens to be funded by the United States pockets, which I help line.
