Israeli settlement resents US power over security fence route

The outcome of talks in Washington may determine whether Ariel, the
largest Jewish settlement in the West Bank, ends up inside or outside
Israel's controversial security fence.

Founded in 1978, the settlement is spread along a ridge that extends 13
miles into the West Bank, pointing eastwards like an arrowhead towards
the Jordan valley.
