Israeli settlement resents US power over security fence route
The outcome of talks in Washington may determine whether Ariel, the
largest Jewish settlement in the West Bank, ends up inside or outside
Israel's controversial security fence.

Founded in 1978, the settlement is spread along a ridge that extends 13
miles into the West Bank, pointing eastwards like an arrowhead towards
the Jordan valley.

"But it would be pretty much the same. You're probably safer here than in
Tel Aviv," she said, surveying the town's pedestrian open-air mall with
its post office, Blockbuster video store and Orange cellphone outlet.

People nevertheless accuse the US administration of interfering in their
affairs. "It's none of their business," said Zitrin Eliezer, a retired lift
engineer. "If I were prime minister, I wouldn't listen to them. Let them give
California and Texas back to the Mexicans and then they can come and
tell us what to do."

I think the U.S. should stop sending money over there we could be using here, then. Let them fund their own 'fence'. I mean, our government is sending billions upon billions of OUR tax dollars over there. You damn well better believe it is our business.

All of those Pukes here in Texas would ruin another good country, this time Mexico.

5. I was rather hoping to make California a sovereign state.
But that is just a personal bias.

They can have Tejas any time, I don't see how they could
fuck it up worse than the gringos.

I did think it was interesting how the settlers zeroed right in
on the colonial/manifest-destiny nature of their enterprise in
the comparison.

6. Sharon's latest
By way of compromise, the fence along Ariel will be left out. It will be guarded by the military police.
