UN rights expert condemns Israeli fence
Governments should condemn the security fence being built by Israel as an illegal act of conquest in the same way they have criticized the annexation of East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, a UN-appointed human rights expert says.

In a report made public Tuesday, South African lawyer John Dugard said the wall cuts deep into Palestinian territory, blocking off huge swaths of land.

Mr. Dugard contended that the wall is primarily aimed at protecting Israeli settlements on Palestinian land and not, as the Israelis contend, at preventing terror bombings and other attacks inside Israel itself.
