NABLUS, West Bank, June 2 (Reuters) - The Israeli army blew up
several cement barriers in a raid in the West Bank town of Nablus
on Saturday, causing minor injuries and damage to storefronts in
a commercial center, local witnesses said.
The barriers were used by Palestinian militants to prevent Israeli
vehicles from driving through the streets, the witnesses said.
Nihad Masri, the acting mayor of Nablus, said a few people
sustained minor injuries from the blasts.
The Israeli army had no immediate comment.

Palestinians: Dozens of shops, homes damaged in IDF Nablus raidBy The Associated Press
Dozens of Palestinian shops and homes were damaged, and water,
sewage and electrical lines were cut in the West Bank town of
Nablus on Saturday by Israel Defense Forces blasting of concrete
barriers blocking entrances to the crowded Old City, Nablus
officials said.
The predawn explosions left thousands without running water and
electricity, though repair teams were out by mid-morning.
Said Handiyeh, a Nablus city council member, estimated the damage
at $100,000. He said a 60-year old woman was slightly hurt by
shattering glass.
