Local man seeks help to buy ambulances for Israel
Arthur Zolot of Marblehead is looking for 617 good people in his home town and next door in Swampscott.

Zolot hopes he can find that many folks as frustrated as he when he sees yet another suicide bombing by Palestinians on his television. His plan? To raise $61,700 - that's $100 each from 617 folks - to buy a fully equipped ambulance for the emergency medical services of Israel.

"Why? I just get so frustrated when I see terrorist bombs blowing up babies, children, women and this is one way to help. They need ambulances and we can raise money for at least one," Zolot says.

"And $61,700 is precisely the amount of money it costs to provide the Magen David Adom (Israel's equivalent to the Red Cross) with a fully equipped ambulance," he adds.

Zolot says the vehicles will "help the beleaguered citizens of Israel, being murdered and maimed by terrorists ... a gift of this ambulance from their friends in Marblehead and Swampscott is one of the most positive things we can do."...

A heart warming story amongst so much killing of Israelis and Americans.

1. Good for him...
now will someone do this for the Palestinians? They, too, are being killed.

4. Aid
Actually many times even the aid they have is denied access and many have died while being denied that aid. Which is a war crime...

5. Hey!
It's all for security. Dead and suffering Palestinians don't matter as long as it improves the security of Israel in the minds of far-rightists.

7. Perhaps potential donors fear
ambulances for Palestinians will be used for weapons by terrorists.

9. So why shouldn't people fear...
that ambulances for Israelis will be used as weapons to continue the occupation?

21. Question
Edited on Fri Oct-17-03 05:01 PM by Saudade
...for the author of this particular inversion of reality:

"The occupation is self-defense against killers."

The question is this:

Given that every military occupation of another people and land in history has provoked violent resistance, that this response is both common sense and legitimate under international law and universal principles of justice and human rights, and that, accordingly, most of the rest of the world is convinced that the occupation causes the occupied people to revolt (not submit) rather than the other way around,

Do you think that there would be more or less violence against Israel if Israel ended the occupation?

It sure is hard to get the pro-Israeli people here to post anything other than one-line platitudes and obvious propaganda. Do they think we are stupid?

26. hmm
Even better put: If Israel ended the occupation, the settlements (pulling the existing back) making the life of Palestinians impossible, the destruction of property and land, what would happen? Maybe something like say in 2000?

One lame excuse after another. You cannot deny medical aid access to the wounded since it is a clear violation of international law and conventions. But if in your world those medics all are terrorists then I really can't help you with your fantasy world...
