Agreement in Hamas: Cease-fire to end Friday
After expressing contradictory positions on Sunday, Hamas' leadership on Monday adopted a united stance: The cease-fire with Israel, which expires this Friday, will not be extended.

On Sunday, the Damascus-based head of Hamas' political bureau, Khaled Meshal, had said precisely that, but Gaza-based leaders of the movement insisted that no decision had yet been reached.

Monday, however, Hamas' spokesman in the Gaza Strip, Ayman Taha, said the movement had concluded that there was no point in extending the truce "as long as Israel isn't abiding by its terms" - though he added that talks on continuing the cease-fire were still taking place.

1. Another assurance of ongoing misery for the Palestinians
if their leadership actually cared for the citizens' welfare, they would stop with the threats, terrorism and ultimatums.

These actions will never, ever get them a state, and will assure another decade or two or more of misery.

Only compromise will get to peace.

3. Isn't the title misleading
considering this part

"Monday, however, Hamas' spokesman in the Gaza Strip, Ayman Taha, said the movement had concluded that there was no point in extending the truce "as long as Israel isn't abiding by its terms" - though he added that talks on continuing the cease-fire were still taking place.

sounds as though it is still yes no maybe so

IMO Hamas would be stupid to officially end the cease fire as that would be the Hanukkah gift ever for the hawks in Israel.

4. whats the difference?
whether or not they end the "cease fire"...shoot 100 kassams in to sederot, askelon etc....any israeli reaction will be determined by you and others to be "over reacting, not reasonable, etc.....since the expectations are different for israel and the Palestinians....that double standard:

5. Why when IDF made an incursion into Gaza
Edited on Tue Dec-16-08 03:25 PM by azurnoir
on November4 was it immediately that some Israeli spokesman announce that this did not constitute a breaking of the cease fire?
What are you worried about in your world nothing Israel does is wrong anyway, the black and white world tends to be so simple and really doesn't require much thought that way.

6. israel just took a page out of hamas playbook...
attack....claim they did not break the ceasefire....and see if people buy it...works for hamas all the time......

actually the black and white world is far more difficult since it means one has to make decisions and make a clear stand...those who stay in the gray areas get to be whishy washy, and never having to make a clear stand, always using words of that only speculate and clear away from definitive decisions that have consequences.....or answer simple questions that frame real scenarios........

it seems that both sides are self righteously inflexibly sure of themselves how simple me right you wrong and your post just proved that point
Sometimes taking a stand means saying that "both ya'll is effed up"

edited to ask: is Pelsar Hebrew for persistent?
