Gunmen shoot at Border Police patrol along Israel-Jordan border
Gunmen opened fire at a Border Police patrol along the Israel-Jordan border on Tuesday morning, the army said, as regional tensions continued to run high over Israel's campaign against Hamas in Gaza.

There were no casualties in the incident, which took place along the desert frontier between the two countries in southern Israel.

Israel and Jordan signed a peace agreement in 1994 and the border is usually quiet. There was a similar shooting incident Sunday along the Israel-Syria border.

There were also no casualties in that incident, but the bullets struck a few vehicles belonging to soldiers working on the fence between Israel and Syria.

2. Catapulting the what?
"Gunmen" as opposed to what? Were the Border Patrol unarmed? Or were they "gunmen" also. So far that's 2 Haaretz posts,in the last couple minutes. One more and we are past coincidence in our mutual search for truth....

3. So, no real comment on the actual event, just baseless attacks on me?
I guess it must suck for you when Israel isn't the aggressor?

4. Here is a comment...
The "trouble" in Jordan and in Lebanon is reflective of the fact that the PEOPLE in the region do not like the reaction of their governments to Israeli aggression in Gaza. Israel is quickly making more suicide terrorists by the hundreds around the world, some of which will presently be showing up inside Israel (and, sadly, possibly the US as well). Another decade of death and destruction.

If the Arab countries that surrounded Israel were true democracies, rather than kingdoms or dictatorships, Israel would be fighting yet another war on all of her borders again. Israel would win, but not without significant cost.

This isn't getting either side anywhere.

5. Yet another "blame Israel" post from you. How predictable and tiresome.
The "trouble" is both countries (actually, add Syria), is they hate Israel, they hate Jews, and they hate both exist in such close proximity.

"If the Arab countries that surrounded Israel were true democracies, rather than kingdoms or dictatorships, Israel would be fighting yet another war on all of her borders again." That is laughable on so many levels. It is more likely for a war to break out because Israel is surrounded by kingdoms and dictatorships.

Very few care if Israel is afforded peace.

9. Well, the election of Hamas in Gaza says you are wrong.
The government of Jordan, Egypt, and even Syria, are loath to start a real shooting war with Israel.

But their populations grow restive. Mubarak won't be at the helm in Egypt forever. And who knows if the US will even have the money to continue to buy off the Egyptian government forever. Seems like we are broke.

I suppose you know who the top two countries are in the world to receive US foreign aid, right?

Every time a new (and illegal) settlement is built on Palestinian land, how is that achieving peace for the long suffering Israelis?

So your answer is "They hate Jews" and that's all there is to it. No reasoning with them, they are mindless haters.

You can't have peace with those that will hate you forever. So, what's Israel's answer? Keep killing them until they don't "hate Jews" anymore? Or keep killing them until they don't exist anymore?

Neither is likely to work, never has in the past.

6. A Star of David....
2 links to an Israeli paper and a link to "The Rise of Anti-Semitism" and me thinking you perhaps have a dog in this hunt is "baseless"??? You Sir, are delusional. If I posted with an avatar of a red crescent, a Palestinian flag and link to a Hamas website would you consider me impartial? You can come in here with either an open mind (no matter where you lean) or with a declared bias. But never with a declared bias to claim victimhood because someone read what you posted.

8. You caught me....
I was born an Irishman, but GOD, thank you for revealing I am whatever the fuck your twisted mind thinks I am. My people never knew what a desert was but we can damn well recognize an aggressor.

13. So far, you've said...
I've "revealed" myself and won an "award". So either declare your accusation or fuck off. I grow tired of innuendo while people you apparently support kill children and then suggest I'm also an "agent" of a faction. Go ahead and accuse me of being an anti-semite and and get the banning you so richly deserve for posting to a discussion board and then attacking any more balanced view than your declared side.

15. Thought so...
The innuendo of a cowardly partisan clown can be substituted for being responsible for what they are afraid to say. Post whom you are and then deny it. If you had been honest you would have been tombstoned but I could have respected you. I don't. LOL that.

19. I really hope this doesn't spread and that it ends soon.
Everyday the violence continues, more violence is to be expected. So sad. I feel for the people who live in the region.
