Clerics urge new jihad over Gaza
At a weekend meeting in Istanbul, 200 religious scholars and clerics met with senior Hamas officials to plot a new jihad centred on Gaza.

The BBC's Bill Law was the only Western journalist at the meeting.

In a hall crowded with conservative Sunni Muslim sheikhs and scholars, in a hotel close to Istanbul's Ataturk Airport speaker after speaker called for jihad against Israel in support of Hamas.

The choice of Turkey was significant. Arab hardliners were keen to put aside historic differences with the Turks.

As one organiser put it: "During the past 100 years relations have been strained but Palestine has brought us together."

8. Jihad has only made their lives more miserable
you'd think they would get that by now, but they don't.

Stupid religious leaders, stupid political leaders.

None of them care for the people, only their own self interests.

5. Not necessarily a new grouping
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 12:05 AM by Alamuti Lotus
founded sometime in spring 2004 in response to the aggression against Iraq (Iraqi Islamic resistance political leaders Hareth ad-Dhari and Ahmad al-Qubeisi were early members, not sure if they were at this one though). A motley grouping of salafis, some of them possibly as terrified of Iran as much as they are of Israel; one of the main points of this article mentions their fear of Hizbu'llah's ever growing influence over the resistance in Palestine. One of their former secretary generals (health concerns I believe led him to step down) was an intermediary in reconciling "al-Qa'idah" prisoners in Peninsula jails to serve the Saudi regime in its "terrorist rehabilitation" PR campaign.
Interesting turns this meeting have taken, but if these people are expecting the Arab or Turkish governments to lift a finger, I can only discount it as delusion (Hamas suffers greatly from this)... they speak of opening a "third Jihadist front" in Palestine--some of these people represent those who killed Abdullah Azzam when he called for this 20 years ago. Random thoughts..

6. Hamas Deadly Campaign Against Suspected Collaborators
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 10:02 PM by ohio2007
all those holy rollers yelling alla ahkbar., they gotta be fundies
Collaborating : Warning,(Graphic Violence)
Since the end of December 2008, during and after the Israeli military offensive which killed some 1,300 Palestinians, most of them civilians, Hamas forces and militias in the Gaza Strip have engaged in a campaign of abductions, deliberate and unlawful killings, torture and death threats against those they accuse of “collaborating” with Israel, as we More..ll as opponents and critics.

At least two dozen men have been shot dead by Hamas gunmen in this period. Scores of others have been shot in the legs, kneecapped or inflicted with other injuries intended to cause permanent disability, subjected to severe beatings which have caused multiple fractures and other injuries, or otherwise tortured or ill-treated. The targets of Hamas’ deadly campaign include former detainees accused of “collaborating” with the Israeli army who escaped from Gaza’s Central Prison when it was bombed by Israeli forces on 28 December 2008, as well as former members of the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces and other activists of PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party. The campaign began shortly after the beginning of the three-week Israeli military offensive against the Gaza Strip on 27 December 2008 and continued after a ceasefire took effect on 18 January 2009.

they really get the lead pipe out for that 'collaborator' in the vid
so
don't go to the link if you can't stomach Hamas street justice or see them in ill light.

Makes me wonder how long they made Shalit, the IDF soldier, suffer ?
