Slow Sunday, the big news is Lieberman (US version) warmongering as usual. Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan is not enough, we gotta save Yemen too. And that is just the Middle East. Let's not forget all those unruly places on the African side of the Red Sea: Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, ...

I am sort of interested by the possibility that things are coming to a head on the Arabian Peninsula, something I have been anticipating for 5 or 6 years now. And it will be interesting to see if the perverts running Iran finally get replaced with some less neanderthal government.

6. Well, I know the Shiia living under Saudi rule have been "restive" since like forever.

And I consider all Al Qaeda sightings to be more or less the same as Emmanuel Goldstein sightings. There is a kernel of truth there, but mostly it is propaganda intended to justify other political and military agendas. So in any case, I am not buying that this all just popped up. If I had to guess, it's blowback being conveniently misinterpreted as something else, i.e. our current enemies al Qaeda and Iran must be behind it, not some pissed off local guys who may or may not be getting a bit or help from elsewhere. It is true that they seem to be quite a thorn in the side of the Saudis and the soi-disant government of Yemen, so they probably do have some source of supplies.
