Israeli soldier's family urges swap
Israeli soldier's family urges swap

The parents of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier held in the Gaza Strip since 2006, have begun a 12-day march from their home to the Israeli prime minister's residence to press for a prisoner swap.

Aviva and Noam Shalit, the soldier's parents, left their home in Israel's north on Sunday and were joined by hundreds of supporters.

"Today we go out on a long and tiring journey and we will return home only with Gilad. With the help of the public who joined us during the entire way and with your help we will go back home with Gilad," Aviva Shalit, Gilad's mother, said.

Hundreds of Israelis held signs and waved Israeli flags calling for the release of the soldier.

Noam Shalit, Gilad's father, addressed the crowd and said that the Israeli government has only provided excuses for the delay of his son's release.

Bibi is a lying sack of shit that prefers to exploit the Shalit situation for political reasons rather than make a deal for his release, something that Sharon and Olmert would have done.

1. Why are the Israeli's holding their own soldier from his family?
Sorry I don't know about this. It sounds awful to keep a soldier from his family. What reason do they have? Was there a trial or something? What do they want to let him go?

2. Look at the source.
Israel has proposed to swap thousands of Hamas Terrorists for one of their soldiers.

Thousands

Hamas has refused. They have also refused to let the Red Cross in to see him.

3. Israel is scared shitless of Marwan Barghouti and refuses to swap him for Shalit
Marwan Barghouti is the Palestinian version of Jomo Kenyatta and Nelson Mandela rolled into one. Kenyatta and Mandela were called terrorists not that long ago by the British colonials.

6. LOL "Kenyatta and Mandela were not guilty of murder."
but Marwan Barghouti is? according to who? Kenyatta and Mandela were leaders of the Mau Mau and ANC respectively but I am sure if one asked their colonial occupiers at the time they were guilty of murder to say the least. What is odd about Marwan Barghouthi's trial is that usually terrorist are tried by the military in Israel but not Barghouthi he had a civil trial for "some" reason

4. Do you really not know?
I thought everyone knew what the story about Gilad Shalit is. It's not Israel who is holding the soldier! How could that be?!

Gilad Shalit is a private or corporal in the IDF. He was kidnapped by Hamas on the first day of the "Second Lebanon War" in 2006 from the Israeli side of the border with Gaza. Hamas have held him incommunicado ever since. There has only been one communication from him in all that time, a video clip. The Red Cross have not been allowed to visit, nor have any letters or gifts from his family been delivered to him by Hamas.

Hamas are demanding an outrageous number of terrorists held by Israel in exchange for Shalit's release. For the moment Israel has refused the exchange rate.

7. He is still alive. The IDF has slaughtered thousands.

And captured and imprisoned many thousands more. I see from your words you regard the capture of one belligerent on the other side as worse than the killings. maimings, and imprisonments of thousands you regard as sub-human.
