Gaza children set new kite flying world record
Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip continued their record-setting ways on Thursday when 7,202 children flew just as many kites to set a new world record, a UN agency reported.

The event, organized by the United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) came one week after 7,203 Gaza refugee children set a new world record for dribbling basketballs.

On Thursday, 7,202 children, who this summer joined three-week summer-camps run by UNRWA, gathered in an area on the beach of northern Gaza Strip and flew thousands of kites of different colors.

The figure far surpassed the previous mass kite-flying record of 3,000 which was set last year by the Palestinian children in the Gaza.

Give it a rest.

8. Yes, this is in Gaza...which is why these children are considered refugees
They live in Gaza because their families were driven out of someplace else.

The people living in Gaza's refugee camps are not refugees from the West Bank.

Most of the people in the refugee camps in Gaza are the descendants of those who left what became Israel in 1948-1949.

12. I stand corrected....still, they ARE refugees
And, at some point, they and their families must be given not only compensation but apologies and an ADMISSION that they didn't deserve to be driven out of their homes.

It's time to stop the "they're NOT refugees" thing...it serves no purpose.

13. I never said that they were not refugees
In any case, I think that is a lovely story. Certainly we can all agree on that.

18. Two posters seemed confused regarding the refugees
One asked where they were refugees from, the other erroneously claimed they were from the West Bank.

In neither case did anyone make the claim that they were not refugees.

19. And the first of the two was clearly being facetious

Again with the feigned ignorance. Context and source are important parts of reading comprehension, Oberliner.

10. What a lovely story
Any activity that can allow these children a moment of normality is a wonderful thing.
