West Bank: Arabs burn Jewish holy books
Some 200 Palestinians armed with bats and iron chains raided the illegal West Bank outpost of Gaon HaYarden Friday and burned Jewish holy books at the site, the settlers said.

The Palestinians arrived at the outpost in dozens of vehicles and razed it. A leading member of the Jewish Hilltop Youth movement vowed to rebuild the outpost after the Shabbat

<snip>

Majed Fahim, the head of the Kfar Malek municipality told Ynet that the outpost in question was set up illegally on Arab land.

"Today we decided to come out after Friday prayers and reach our land, where this outpost was established, in order to remove the settlers from the site," he said.

3. you might consider adding some specificity to your comment

Cuz the way it reads is that you think it's OK if Palestinians burn Jewish holy books.

Personally I think it's highly disrespectful, but whatev, it's not like us Jews are going to kill people or burn down something because we were disrespected. We are cool like that, unlike some other religious traditions.

5. The Headline Is a Distortion, Sir, Probably Deliberately So
An illegal outpost of ultra-radicals was driven off their patch, and what they left behind, tents, personal belongings, etc., was burnt on the scene.

11. The way the title reads IMO
comes off as though this was a deliberate attack for the purpose of burning Jewish 'Holy Books' the inference was IMO it may have been revenge for settlers burning a Mosque earlier this week, nothing in the statements made by Palestinians quoted in the article would indicate that however

12. It is OK for Palestinians to burn Jewish "Holy Books".
Palestinians are not obligated to protect Jewish "Holy Books". It's disrespectful, true, but Palestinians are not obligated to respect Jews or "Holy Books" either.

6. They Should, Sir, Be Quashing Criminal Activities Of Radical Settlers
What happened here is that a criminal gang was driven off its stolen patch; the rest is just window-dressing.

10. At This Point, Sir, You Have Only the Word Of Radical Provocatuers Books were Burned
Edited on Fri Jun-10-11 08:55 PM by The Magistrate
The tent and hut the criminal gang dwelt in were torched after they fled; we have only the word of the criminals that there was anything special in their contents. One would think devout men would take holy books with them in their flight, certainly if they were concerned by their preservation....
