Pro-Palestinian activists plan on gaining access to Gaza by flying to Israel
As hundreds of internationals are being denied departure from Greek ports, pro-Palestinian activists from the United States and Europe plan large demonstrations at Ben Gurion International Airport.

<snip>

"Pro-Palestinian groups say hundreds of activists from around the world intend to fly to Israel's airport on Friday to protest the country's naval blockade of the Gaza Strip and other policies.

By staging large demonstrations at Ben Gurion International Airport, Israeli media say the activists plan on disrupting flights. Media reported that already tight security at the airport will be beefed up. Police refused to comment on operational preparations."

<snip>

"The groups that called Sunday for the protest are based in Europe and the U.S. ¬They include the International Solidarity Movement, a pro-Palestinian group that often sends activists to the West Bank and Gaza.

They are expected to land at Ben Gurion airport on July 8th.

The planned protests come amid stalled efforts by a flotilla of activists to reach Gaza by sea."

Hundreds to challenge restrictions on traveling to Occupied Territories

http://972mag.com/bengurion372011-12578/

Israel is not yet done with the second flotilla, and a new effort to challenge its control over the travel to and from Palestinian Territories might take place this week – in no other place than the Tel Aviv International Airport

<snip>

"A coalition of organizations has made public its intention to have hundreds of international activists land at Ben-Gurion airport this Friday, July 8th, and openly declare their intention to visit the West Bank.

Until now, visitors coming in solidarity with the Palestinians had to conceal their destination when questioned at the airport, or risk immediate deportation. A couple of years ago, American scholar Noam Chomsky was denied entry to Israel at the Jordanian border, after declaring his intention to give a lecture at Ramallah’s Bir Zeit University.

The closure over the West Bank works in the opposite direction as well: Many don’t know it, but Israel controls all air and land entries to the West Bank, not only to Gaza. Palestinians wishing to travel abroad must apply for special permission from the Israel authorities. Those wishing to travel to the United States must first obtain a permit to visit the American Consulate in East Jerusalem and obtain their visa.

Human rights organizations have often cited the complete authority over entries and exits from the occupied territories as further proof of Israel’s effective control over Palestinians’ lives, in stark contradiction to the claim that since the Oslo agreement, “Palestinians run their own business.”

1. Put 'em on a plane, fly 'em to Cairo.
Let them tell the Egyptians they want to enter Gaza through the Rafah gate. I'm sure the burning gas from the bombed pipeline will make everyone cheery and welcoming.

they think its some kind of "game" where they can play all they want and no harm will come to them......i don't think they have any idea how serious we are. We can play their game up to a certain point.....

an attempt at "closing down" the airport, won't be looked upon as some kind of simple protest, too much blood has been spilled on israeli planes and airports, It will be seen as a very dangerous act, that breaches airport security.

for their sake i hope they dont do it, those nice grandmothers will be hauled away, quickly and roughly, walkers and all......

7. 'Air Flotilla' lands, 69 activists barred entry
Dozens of pro-Palestinian activists taken from EasyJet, Alitalia flights for police interrogation; activists arrive on five different planes; Danino says police have met gov't goals at Ben-Gurion Airport.

<snip>

"Police diverted two passenger aircraft that landed at Ben-Gurion International Airport on Friday, detaining at least 60 suspected pro-Palestinian activists for questioning. Participants in the "Air Flotilla" arrived on three other flights as well. Police said that some 69 activists have been denied entry.

The flights, one EasyJet from Geneva and one Alitalia, were diverted to Terminal 1, where police combed passengers for pro-Palestinian activists expected to attempt entry into the country as part of the "Air Flotilla," Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. Police believed a bulk of foreign pro-Palestinian activists were on those jets.

After police finished checking the flights, passengers not connected to the groups of activists were ferried back to Terminal 3. The suspected activists were taken to a separate area of the airport for questioning.

The activists involved represented a number of different countries, including the United States, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Police Insp.-Gen. Yochanan Danino said his officers "succeeded in meeting the mission set by the government." Undercover agents and police continue to be deployed at Ben-Gurion Airport as more "air flotilla" participants were expected to arrive.

Meanwhile, six left-wing Israeli activists were arrested after causing a disturbance in the arrivals area at Terminal Three police added.

"Five males and one female are being questioned," Rosenfeld said.

The activists held up signs inside the terminal saying "Welcome to Palestine."

Several of them were taken outside by police where they were arrested and attacked by bystanders."

Israel’s message: Hate thy pro-Palestinian activists

http://www.haaretz.com/blogs/a-special-place-in-hell/israel-s-message-hate-thy-pro-palestinian-activist-1.371999

Where Israel is concerned, a democracy that cannot bring itself to allow non-violent protest has already turned on itself.

8. Funny, isn't it, how non-violent protest freaks out certain types of states.

our security services have long memories...and it wouldn't be the first time the violent types have used others for their purposes....violent and otherwise

its called consequences, once you step over the line, there is no going back: the Palestinians groups have used japanese tourists, british, pregnant ladies, grandmothers, ambulances, Palestinians with medical passes, the mentally retarded etc to carry out their deeds-----middle age european ladies can be used just as well.

they might try egypt as an entry route in to gaza, as one option, not as exciting or comfortable (the protest tourists tend to stick to the more luxurious western locations.....), but as long as they stick to the script they can scream their heads off.

22. well if you used: mentally disturbed children...
used humanitarian medical passes, used "grandmothers" to carry and use bombs.....what moral value would eliminate the walker?
or is there some kind of moral line differentiating from using children than from the elderly that I'm missing?

attached to lines on a map.Must be pretty worrying for the zionists right now,
