Netanyahu aide: Israel, Egypt to preserve peace deal
Israel and Egypt are working to preserve the landmark peace accord they signed in 1979, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's spokesman said on Saturday after rioting forced the evacuation of Israel's Cairo embassy.

"There is a new Egyptian administration with which we are fully and painstakingly coordinating. And it is the intent of this Egyptian administration, as it is that of the government of Israel, to preserve the peace that has been preserved for more than 30 years," spokesman Roni Sofer said.

Speaking on Army Radio, Sofer said Netanyahu sought to return Ambassador Yitzhak Levanon to Egypt "soon, under the appropriate security arrangements".

Sofer commended Egyptian forces for extricating six guards who had been besieged by hundreds of protesters at the embassy but said Israel was not yet "turning the page" on the unprecedented incident.

1. Step one: Remove Lieberman
Step two: Remove Lieberman
Step three: Replace Nit-anyahu

There could and should be a natural peace between these nations. Peace offers both of them so many advantages. Cooperation on the Suez, industries, tons of ancient buildings and artifact studies. . . The problem is that Lieberman is not alone. There seems to be a small, but incredibly vile group of racists in Israel that seems to thrive on the idea of creating conflict and pursuing war.

2. Israel lauds Obama's role in Cairo crisis
(Reuters) - Israel thanked U.S. President Barack Obama on Saturday for his "fateful" role in helping evacuate its besieged Cairo embassy, saying all his influence in Egypt had been brought to bear.

"I would say it was a decisive moment -- fateful, I would even say," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose relationship with Obama has long been soured by the stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, told reporters.

"He said, 'I will do all that I can.' He did that. He applied all of the means and influence of the United States of America, which are certainly substantial. And I think we owe him special thanks." (Writing by Dan Williams)

3. Netanyahu thanks Obama, Egyptian commandoes for cooperation
Netanyahu expressed special gratitude to United States President Barack Obama and the Egyptian commando, for safely evacuating the Israeli Embassy personnel from the building.

"The Middle East is experiencing an earthquake on an historic scale. We must act collectedly and responsibly while using our discretion. We must understand that the developments taking place are fueled by undercurrents. (Attila Somfalvi)

4. ah but ever the opportunist Bibi is turning this against the Palestinians
One of these interests, the premier said, was Israel's continued "struggle for peace with the Palestinians," adding that direct talks were the only way to achieve peace. Netanyahu also said that continued Mideast turmoil proved the importance of security assurances in future peace deals.

"I believe there are many in Israel and in the world that understand our justified insistence on maintaining Israel's security needs in any future deal," Netanyahu said.

5. Good. I am glad that at present the leaders of both countries seem to be seeking to preserve peace.
