NYC Ads Call To End US Military Aid To Israel
By JORDANA HORN, JERUSALEM POST CORRESPONDENT
09/15/2011 03:19

NEW YORK – New York City subways have recently started to display advertisements calling for the end of US military aid to Israel, deliberately coinciding with the United Nations General Assembly sessions next week.

The 25 posters in 18 Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Bronx subway stations are part of a mass transit advertising campaign by Be On Our Side to remedy what the advertisements call “the flawed and skewed representation in mainstream media” of Israeli-Palestinian relations.

This is the seventh city in which these ads have been displayed. The posters have been approved by the city’s Metropolitan Transit Authority, and will be displayed for one month.

“Be on our side. We are on the side of peace and justice. End US military aid to Israel,” the advertisements state, showing pictures of parents and children identified as Israeli and Palestinian. The text on the ads directs riders to the Two Peoples One Future website.

2. "Lefties Against the Jewish State" would be a better name for the group.
These guys want to end aid to Israel because they think it would help to push israel to allow the right of return, i.e., national suicide.

3. Mideast 'subway war' in NY
Ad calling for end to US military aid to Israel sparks controversy, counter-measures

<snip>

"A subway station poster calling for an end to American military aid to Israel has sparked a heated debated and a "billboard war" in New York, the NY Daily News reported Friday.

The WESPAC Foundation, the group behind the ads, said they were meant to promote dialogue. However, City Council Member Lewis Fidler had a different view, the Daily News reported.

"This is a highly political campaign with a controversial underlying anti-Israel message," he wrote in a letter addressed to NY's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) President Thomas Prendergast." I would urge you to disallow and/or remove these advertisements."

However, activist Felice Gelman, a member of the group behind the ads, dismissed the charges.

"I have family in Israel. They deserve peace. And US policies are not helping," she said.

Meanwhile, pro-Israel group Stand With Us said it would post its own ads at NY subway stations later this month, the report said.

"We didn't ask for a billboard war," the group's CEO, Roz Rothstein, was quoted as saying. "But the group putting them up wants a response, and we have to give them a response."

4. That's a lot of Jew Hatred
Wespac is the same group that helped fund the irrational screaming and yelling at the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Wespac supports the elimination of the Jewish state using any means to fight the "oppressive" zionist entity. I think New York is the wrong audience to play this card in, given the recent upset in the NY special election.

5. Since when has wanting to reduce or stop military aid been 'Jew Hatred'?
And yr linking to those Megaphone folk? In another thread you were accusing an article written about an extremist Israeli Rabbi of being propaganda, yet here you are in this thread posting a link to something that's undoubtedly propaganda...

6. Khader's own words highlight her conspiracy theorism and promotion of violence against Israel
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6378325971539409742&hl=en#

Just like faked moon landings and other crazy conspiracy theories, Khader promotes the canard that there is some evil cabal responsibile for Hollywood movies demonizing poor innocent family-friendly organizations like Hamas and has no issue with mortar fire targeting Israeli women and children.

'Nuff said.

7. Apparently the source doesn't matter. Cutting funding seems reasonable to some...
Doesn't matter about the motivations behind the action.

8. But you told me only recently the source doesn't matter
Remember yr words defendin the use of a rather stenchy source? You said the source doesn't matter. Why the sudden change of heart? It comes across as not applying the same rules to sources depending on whether they support Israel or not.
