China Warns The U.S. Against Vetoing Palestine's UN Request
A state-run Chinese newspaper has warned of rising Mid-East conflicts if the U.S. vetoes Palestine's bid for UN membership next week.

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas is expected to request UN induction next Friday, while Washington warns the move will be "counter-productive".

The China Daily http://news.yahoo.com/china-paper-warns-us-against-palestinian-un-veto-073727408.html says, "If the US chooses to fly in the face of world opinion and block the Palestine UN bid next week, not only will Israel become more isolated but tensions in the region will be heightened even more. "The majority of the international community deems an independent state as the inalienable right of the Palestinians" (via AFP). http://news.yahoo.com/china-paper-warns-us-against-palestinian-un-veto-073727408.html

The expected request comes almost a year after peace talks with Israel crumbled over its settlement construction on Palestine land.

Their no longer " Isolationists " and we're no longer " Trusted ".

3. The Chinese already own the U.S. economy. Next, they plan on taking over our politics.
The Chinese government is not concerned about the people in the Middle East.

This is a battle with the West over control of Middle East oil. China's interest is to ingratiate itself with the newly emerging Arab leadership now that the old Arab leadership that allied itself with the West (at least, with the Western oil companies) is crumbling.

If the emerging Arab leadership thinks they have a friend and ally in the Chinese government, they are in for a rude awakening.

4. Good call about the oil. Oil explains a lot WRT political decisions on I/P.

It's not about caring for Palestinians, or believing the Palestinian cause is just.

It's about oil.

And sticking it to America and its lone mideast ally...

6. I'm afraid the Chinese have already effected a takeover there...
diplomatically, they already enjoy better relations with almost the entire African continent, and much of the middle East.

"The Chinese government is not concerned about the people in the Middle East."

No, they are not. But then again, they never claimed to be. The US, on the other hand, claims to want democracy and freedom for all people, but not for the people in Bahrain, or Egypt, or Saudi Arabia. It would prefer its supplicants to remain in power in those countries, thank you very much.

And there is the problem. The third world prefers to deal with China because they do what they say and say what they do. The US on the other hand, talks a great deal and delivers very little, due largely to a rather dysfunctional democracy that seems to have just that objective (ie doing very little) in mind.

Whatever their faults, however, China is not the least interested in empire. They have over a billion people and are not particularly keen on lording over any more. And this guarantee of non-interference is something that instinctively appeals to the third world.

12. It's not really a not now but later sort of thing...
Just imagine the uproar if someone said they don't support the existence of Israel. Not now. The fact is that you either support Palestinian statehood now or you don't support it at all. I've never seen anything as ridiculous as the desperate attempts from Israel and its 'supporters' to claim that if only the Palestinians wait till maybe things are better some time possibly far off in the future, then maybe they'd support Palestinian statehood.

13. They've been shooting rockets at civilians and before the wall was built, sending
suicide bombers in to kill civilians. As long as they are killing Israeli civilians I would say nope. You don't get anything as long as you are killing civilians.

14. The PA has done nothing of the sort...
Though I guess using yr logic, Israel doesn't deserve to be a state either given how it's killed Palestinian civilians and occupying territory that's not part of Israel...
