'I Saw the Devil Inside Him'
Residents of Judea and Samaria report an upsurge in terror attacks in recent days, although official statistics are not yet available to confirm this.

Neria Avrahami of Psagot hitched a ride in a car that was driving northward on Route 60 near Maavar Mikhmas Tuesday afternoon. The driver attempted to turn left near the local gas station but an Arab-owned commercial vehicle blocked his way.

At the same time, a young Arab armed with a club emerged from the nearby village, jumped over the security barrier and headed toward the vehicle. He started banging hard on the front windshield, tried to climb atop the car and began breaking the rear window.

The driver managed to bypass the vehicle that was blocking the road, crossed the intersection and drove off. The attacker jumped back over the security barrier and disappeared. The Arab commercial vehicle, they realized, had blocked their way as part of a coordinated plan with the attacker.

6. I must confess I do kind of like that novel
At least I did in high school.

Shame the name has been appropriated in this manner.

7. I've never read anything by Ayn Rand...
My online encounters with Libertarians, who I just don't get at all, have put me off reading any of her stuff. I might be doing her writing a disservice, but I stuck her in the L. Ron Hubbard category...

I so feel the pain when it comes to name appropriation. Check out the link in my sig line. That's why I just can't bring myself to call the US bunch the same name and always refer to them as the Tealiban!

8. Yeah - her politics were pretty unpleasant
To a young person, though, her rugged individualism was kind of inspiring.

Lord knows what my reaction would be re-reading it now.

12. I think it was just a joke
Not really meant to be a logical argument of any kind.

16. Not terribly funny, but no reason to take the comment seriously either
logical fallacy or bad joke, you are probably right that it should not be given any serious consideration at all.

18. Fair enough
I would say that the bad jokes outnumber the serious comments as a general rule.

20. No favorites, just unfavorites
BBC, NYT, and Haaratz come across as too polemic and have a history of publishing innuendo as fact.

13. IMO it is just fine to post from Arutz Sheva
and as you yourself have pointed out Israel is moving further rightward I really do not understand your surprise that Israel's supporters move in that direction with it

10. This is written in such emotive style that it's difficult to sort out what's accurate
'I saw the devil in his eyes' - not exactly an objective description.

There is violence and extremism on both sides, but IsraelNationalNews is as one-sided and biased on one side, as Counterpunch is on the other.

14. Counterpunch is actually a bit more honest than their rightwing pro-Palestinian media counterparts..
Edited on Thu Oct-27-11 03:25 PM by shira
They pretty much admit they're extremists against a 2 state solution.

Most "leftwing" media outlets pretend they have mainstream views even though they publish extreme rightwing antizionist propaganda (pro Hamas/PLO).

Gimme the honest haters anytime.

Cut the bullshit.

15. First hand accounts tend to be emotive
This is not a legal proceeding in a court of law, this is an interview. I have no reason to believe that the journalist did not accuractely capture the quote of the victims first hand account.

Edited on Thu Oct-27-11 10:50 PM by shaayecanaan
the article mentions an Arab being found with a home made explosive cap. You would expect that sort of thing to get coverage elsewhere.
