KHARTOUM (Ma'an) -- Hamas chief Khalid Mashaal met Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir in Khartoum late Saturday to update the leader on developments in Palestinian politics, officials said.
Mashaal briefed the Sudanese leader on his Thursday meeting with Fatah chief President Mahmoud Abbas in Cairo, the latest push to implement a stalled reconciliation agreement signed by the parties in May, Hamas-affiliated news site Palestinian Information Center reported.
Hamas officials Mousa Abu Marzouq, Muhammad Naser, Khalil al-Hayya and Sami Khater joined meetings with the deputy chief of Bashir's National Congress Party Nafe Ali Nafe, a Hamas press statement said.
Mashaal heads Hamas' political office, and lives in exile in Damascus.
Despite an two-year old international arrest warrant for Bashir by the International Criminal Court in the Hague, both Fatah and Hamas leaders have made trips to Khartoum to meet the defiant leader.
