http://palsolidarity.org/2011/11/act-now-rafah-border-crossing-closed-for-6-days/the frequent closures of the Rafah crossing by the Egyptian authorities compounded with the quota system that only allows a limited number of people to cross every day results in long delays and significant hardship. At times, students miss their school terms and workers lose their jobs while waiting for their turn to cross. Family members who hold foreign passports are still prevented from visiting their loved ones in Gaza. This severely hinders the freedom of movement of the Palestinians of Gaza, a basic human right under international lawi just thought it was time we "revisited" the rafah crossing and remember all those accusations that rafah was still controlled by israel even though there was no israeli presence:
now what were some of those accusations and "hints"?
that israel might attack egypt if they open up the border
that israel might put pressure on the US to stop the funding to egypt
that the border isn't large enough to bring in goods to gaza
these are just off the top of my head...at least ISM has had their eyes opened an have organized a "“Like”, “Share” and Post your activities on the campaign Facebook page"
I doubt we won't be hearing any "oops" guess i was wrong on all of those posts when i accused israel of controlling the rafah border."
