Jewish Group Won’t Let Ron Paul into Its Debate
<snip>

"The Republican Jewish Coalition is hosting a forum for our merry band of Republican presidential candidates next week. The contenders are expected to flesh out a broad range of opinions about Israel, its future, and its relationship with the United States. Oh, except for Ron Paul, who was not invited. It seems his "extreme views"—like how he would stop giving Israel a few billion dollars each year to purchase weapons from the American defense industry—would be too controversial even within the context of a debate of ideas."

5. "Zionist lobbies demonizing Ron Paul"
That's how Iran is spinning the story.

6. I Wouldn't Vote for RP in the General Election, But
I might consider switching parties temporarily to vote for RP in the primary.

It would be better if the election were not about who was going to be tougher on Iran.

3. Well, Jews or any other minority group (or women) supporting the Republican Party...
Edited on Sat Dec-03-11 06:20 PM by LeftishBrit
are rather like turkeys supporting the Christmas Party!

But I can sympathize with any Jewish group not wanting Ron Paul. It's not just his views on issues related to Israel; it's such views as the following, expressed in his essay 'A Republic if You Can Keep It', which he keeps on his website:

'Any academic discussion questioning the wisdom of our policies surrounding World War II is met with shrill accusations of anti-Semitism and Nazi lover. No one is even permitted without derision by the media, the university intellectuals, and the politicians to ask why the United States allied itself with the murdering Soviets and then turned over Eastern Europe to them...'

On the other hand, I can't understand a Jewish - or any other - group tolerating the other Republican candidates either.

4. It's not a debate

It's a candidates forum.

Interestingly, Ron Paul today announced that he is refusing to take part in an actual debate because he doesn't like the choice of moderator.

9. RJC faces anger from Ron Paul fans over forum exclusion
<snip>

"Supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul deluged the Republican Jewish Coalition's phone lines with complaints after the RJC revealed this morning that it declined to invite Paul to its presidential candidates' forum next week.

The six other major Republican candidates are scheduled to appear at the Dec. 7 event.

RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said this morning that his group rejects Paul's "misguided and extreme views" -- particularly those regarding aid to Israel.

"He's just so far outside of the mainstream of the Republican party and this organization," Brooks said. Inviting Paul to attend would be "like inviting Barack Obama to speak."
