Israel ‘friend requests’ its neighbors

New pro-Israel Hasbara video depicts Israel’s dealings with Egypt, Jordan, and the Palestinians; featuring many Israeli ‘friend requests,’ but no occupation.

The Hasbra Fellowship, a pro-Israel campus activism organization, recently posted a video describing the Arab-Israeli conflict taking place within a social network.

The video features a rundown of Israeli history; starting with Israel joining the social network and the UN. Then Israel precedes to “friend request” its neighbors, who do not respond. Only once Israel sends gifts do Egypt and Jordan do they accept Israel’s outstretched hand.

Israel’s repeated “friend requests” to the Palestinians are answered with suicide bombers and rockets. The video doesn’t mention the occupation, roadblocks, arrests, or any other activity that would reflect negatively on Israel.

Have a bad feeling about where that relationship is going.

I am sort of hoping the realities of geography will fix that soon enough when cooler heads are in charge, and the difficulties of rescinding long-standing and lucrative peace treaties. But yeah, I don't see things becoming more chummy as things are now.

8. That's just bizarre...

Not to mention the complete lack of knowledge of the history of the conflict. King Abdullah was sending a bunch of friend requests which Ben Gurion ignored, and then Abdullah's account got shut down in 1951. And let's not forget the Syrians, who while not sending friend requests, were sending a bunch of messages about settling things and divvying up the DMZ, and Israel replied to those messages, but they never friended each other. And Ben Gurion wasn't into sending out friend requests, coz he was quite happy with the status quo as it was...

It's only been around the last ten years or so I think.
