Israel is one of the few places in the Middle East where Arab journalists can still practice some form of real journalism without having to worry about their safety.

In Israel, a journalist has never been forced to go into hiding for reporting a story that the government did not like. But in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Palestinian journalists continue to be targeted by both Fatah and Hamas.

Israeli Arabs have three major weekly tabloids that hire professional and independent journalists and writers, and not propagandists. The three privately owned papers, Assenara, Kul Al Arab and Panorama, are popular among the Arab community largely because they do not hesitate to cover stories that are considered taboo in Arab society.

These papers, for example, are full of stories about "honor killings" -- when a male kills a female relative for allegedly disgracing the family's reputation -- domestic violence such as wife -battering and sexual assaults, and corruption in state-run institutions.

The Hudson Institute is an American think tank founded in 1961, in Croton-on-Hudson, New York, by futurist, military strategist, and systems theorist Herman Kahn and his colleagues at the RAND Corporation. It moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1984 and to Washington, D.C., in 2004.

The Institute promotes public policy change in accordance with its stated values of a "commitment to free markets and individual responsibility, confidence in the power of technology to assist progress, respect for the importance of culture and religion in human affairs, and determination to preserve America's national security."

The Capital Research Center, a conservative group that seeks to rank non-profits and documents their funding, allocates Hudson as a 7 on its ideological spectrum with 8 being "Free Market Right" and 1 "Radical Left".

In March 2011, Kenneth R. Weinstein was appointed president and CEO of the institute.

The Hudson Institute is part of a closely knit group of neoconservative policy institutes that champion aggressive and Israel-centric U.S. foreign policies. Founded in 1961 by several dyed-in-the-wool Cold Warriors, including Herman Kahn—a one-time RAND nuclear war theorist notorious for his efforts to develop "winnable" nuclear war strategies—Hudson describes itself as “a nonpartisan policy research organization dedicated to innovative research and analysis that promotes global security, prosperity, and freedom.”

Hudson compliments its foreign policy work with research on social and economic agendas, claiming to "challenge conventional thinking and help manage strategic transitions to the future through interdisciplinary and collaborative studies in defense, international relations, economics, culture, science, technology, and law."

Although the institute calls itself a "non-partisan” organization, its scholars and work tend to reflect a deeply ideological connection to rightist Israeli policies and actors and is thus widely viewed as a member of the U.S “Israel Lobby.”

I'm sorry that I'm not discussing the OP per se, but rather those who are responsible for it. The writer, Khaled Abu Toameh is a senior consultant on a neocon think-tank who has received awards for misleading journalism (Israeli Media Watch 2011 prize, Hudson Institute Award for Courage in Journalism 2011), and I declare his writings to be crap.
