A large explosion in a heavily populated junction in the heart of Tel Aviv was heard Thursday afternoon, reportedly killing three and injuring 15, three of them critically.
The explosion was set off outside a foreign currency exchange shop ("Change") owned by an operator known to the police on Yehuda Halevi Street.
Police investigators are inclined to believe the attack was linked to underworld score-settling. Officials have confirmed that criminal Ze'ev Rosenstein, considered 'Public Enemy No. 1,' was on the scene. He was viewed entering the exchange, and was apperently taken off to hospital, having sustained light injuries to his hand and foot.
This may be the last in a chain off 6 attempts on Rozenstein's life, so far. Previous attempts include an attempt last November at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Center, where several people were injured, and have usually been ascribed to his opposition – the Avargil underworld family.
