A senior IDF General Staff source told Haaretz: "It's clear to us there's a need to develop less lethal means. We intend to use various crowd control measures in field operations."

The two main types of crowd dispersal measures the army intends to deploy are rubber coated bullets and tear gas, and will get equipment that allows tear gas canisters to be fired over greater distances.

1. Crowd control

As the Intifada is winding down, there may be more incidents of "peaceful" protest, where crowd control is the aim of IDF action. I'm glad that they have resources to make the change and get the more sophisticated crowd control equipment.

maybe they'll start gassing palestinians again. (sarcasm) I suppose that's less lethal. Also makes the civilians easier to handle.
