"Israel Air Force fighter planes struck at targets in southern Lebanon early Tuesday evening in apparent retaliation for the Hezbollah missile attack on an Israeli bulldozer that killed one Israel Defense Forces soldier along the border on Monday.
Israeli military officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Israeli warplanes struck at two Hezbollah bases in south Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, the area of south Lebanon closest to the Syrian border and about 15 kilometers north of the Israeli border.
The IDF said the bases were used to train and brief Hezbollah fighters prior to military operations, Israel Radio reported. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Channel 2's reporter on the Israeli side of the border, Menachem Horowitz, said some of the explosions could be heard there. He added the attack was the heaviest in months and included targets near the Lebanese coastal city of Tyre and along the Hatzbani River further inland."
