Israel Defense Forces troops killed a Palestinian man on Monday near the West Bank city of Jenin, Palestinian sources told Israel Radio. The sources identified the man as 24-year-old Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade Militant Ahmed Mahadi. A second Palestinian was also injured.
An Israeli civilian employee of the IDF was also injured in the incident, close to the separation fence near the West Bank settlement of Kadim.
"There was gunfire at a work site from a neighborhood east of Jenin. An Israeli civilian was slightly wounded in the leg. Soldiers spotted four armed men in the same area and opened fire, hitting one of them," an Israeli military source said.
IDF troops were called to the area when Palestinians opened fire on Israeli civilians working on the construction of the fence. Israel Radio reported that the soldiers fired on a group of four Palestinians, identified as Fatah militants, and apparently hit one of them.
