Police hold NIS 37m seized in Ramallah
Globes Online

On the orders of Minister of Defense Shaul Mofaz yesterday, IDF coordinator of government activities in the territories Maj.-Gen. Yosef Mishlav will prepare a plan in a few days to use money seized in a Ramallah bank to improve humanitarian conditions in the territories.

NIS 37 million in cash was seized yesterday from the Arab Bank and the Cairo Amman Bank. The confiscated cash, in dollars, euros, shekels, and dinars, was put in a safe at the Israel Police headquarters. The defense establishment is now waiting for a cabinet decision to foreclose the money.

Defense establishment sources said the raid on the banks was part of the international war against terrorism

______________

Ahh, yeah right - according to these brave thieves, bulldozing homes, smashing up villages, and erecting an Apartheid Wall is an "improvement" of conditions.

Sorry but I don't trust these killers and bank robbers.

1. oh
and wasn't it Mofaz's trusted Deputy Defense Minister who questioned a "genetic defect" in Palestinians?

And these are the right-wing bigots we're supposed to believe are going to "improve conditions" with the cash they looted?

8. Bear in mind a couple of things about Mofaz
He has a weird sense of humor and obviously a very interesting conception of "improving conditions":

His career has had such humanitarian impulses as ordering Palestinians to write numbers on their arms in memory of Jews (on Holocaust memorial day no less) having them lick the earth, urinate on each other, sing Hatikva etc.

9. This is really amusing.
I imagine a number of tin-pot dictators are studying
this new method of aquiring cash as we speak. But, now that
I think about it, this could be dangerous. Suppose pResident
Bush and his cronies latch onto this idea? We could all
get cleaned out next week. Or this could be a new way to
pay for the war in Iraq, we'll just steal, I mean confiscate
the cash we need from Iraqi banks. The drug war has been being
paid for partly in this way for some time now.
