Prominent Palestinian requests Israeli citizenship

Manel Bahar, daughter of PA premier Abu Alla has officially requested Israeli citizenship. She stated she wants it to be able to move freely between her home in east Jerusalem and her family’s house.

She is married to a Palestinian doctor, resident of east Jerusalem. Her father’s home is in Abu Dis, which although part of east Jerusalem is not included in the city’s municipal boundaries.

Resident of east Jerusalem are entitled to Israeli citizenship, whereas residents of Abu Dis are not. An Israeli ID makes it much easier to cross over between Israeli and Palestinian controlled areas.

Abu Alla has not denied the story.

On so many levels, this discredits and annihilates the entire framework of the pro-PA side of the I/P debate. Ya gotta love it.

If I were on the other side, I'd slink away in shame, never to return to this folder again. But hey, that's just me.

The lady is requesting Israeli citizenship in order to make it easier to move from her home in East Jerusalem and her family home in Abu Dis. Okay, it makes sense that she she request Israeli citizenship under those circumstances.

So, how does this "discredit" or "annihilate" the "pro-PA" side of the debate? I don't understand that. Just what do you consider the "pro-PA" case?

The barriers that the Israeli occupation forces have put up means that travelling even that short distance between their homes is impossible. It's pathetic that she has to get a bloody passport to travel a distance of a mile or two as the crow flies just to visit her family. You take pride in this?! :eyes:

in doing whatever makes life easier. That place is so full of rules to make life difficult I don't know why anyone wants to live there.
