Veteran Arafat adviser shot dead in Gaza
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 09:51 AM by Herschel
Gunmen shot dead a veteran Palestinian journalist and prominent adviser to President Yasser Arafat in Gaza City on Tuesday, witnesses and medics said.

Khalil al-Zebin, 59, who ran a Palestinian Authority-funded magazine and advised Arafat on human rights and media issues, was the most prominent victim yet of a breakdown of law and order accelerated by frequent Israeli raids.

"We have lost a hero among the Palestinian people... in a cheap assassination," Arafat told reporters at his West Bank headquarters. "We cannot stand silent before what happened."

Fascinating. The weasel sees an ally lost to the lawlessnes he has brought. It is always gratifying to see the misery he brings hit him personally.

Armed gangs, often elements of militant groups fighting Israel and sometimes linked to security organs themselves, have been behind a sharp rise in robbery, extortion, abductions and murder in the cities of Gaza and the West Bank.

"It is very clear that there are power struggles on the other side. This could be defined, to a certain degree, as anarchy," Israel's military chief of staff, Lieutenant-General Moshe Yaalon, told Army Radio.

Some political analysts predict that order could decay further if Israel carries out planned "Disengagement Steps" that would mean evacuating Gaza settlements but keeping hold of much land in the West Bank where Palestinians want a state.

...........................................................

armed gangs...i find that hard to believe.

So now the terrorstinians have their own terrorists.

if it wasnt so serious,it would be laughable.

at the lack of outrage over the blatant murder of Khalil al-Zebin,
a veteran Palestinian journalist , by palestinian armed gang.

10. Wait a moment...
the original poster called this "fascinating".

Personally, I don't think "the blatant murder of Khalil al-Zebin" is fascinating... more like despicable.
