Suicide Bomber Strikes Jerusalem Bus
JERUSALEM, Aug. 19 -- A Palestinian bomber triggered a massive, fiery explosion tonight aboard a crowded double-cabin bus in an ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighborhood of Jerusalem, killing himself and at least 18 other people and injuring more than 100.

At least five of the dead and 40 of the wounded were children, the Associated Press reported, and Israeli television showed grim scenes of small bodies being rushed to waiting ambulances. Hospital emergency rooms were crammed with crying, bleeding toddlers and panicked parents.

As always, the closer to peace the more violently the opponents of peace attack.

1. This cannot be the only report of this in I/P and I cannot believe that
there have been, as yet, no replies. I received this news article, myself, much earlier, and would have posted it, but assumed it was, by then, old news here. I guess I had better come back to I/P more often.

This was a horrific act. I know that it was about the worst that was ever perpetrated and may signal an end to the ``road map.''

This is very wrong. It should signal an increase in the quest for peace in this region, by Ariel Sharon, Amoud Abbas and, especially, George Bush*. This act signals to all the players how desperate the situation really is and how they must act quickly to save the peace process.

Do I hold out much hope? No. But this is what I believe is necessary. I think time is of the essence, here. The lives of all in this region are in jeopardy. What else can possibly happen to stimulate the important players here into action?;(
