Islamic Jihad claims responsibility for attack
The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility on Saturday evening, from Damascus, for the deadly attack in Tel Aviv on Friday night.

"The period of calm was set for one month, and that month is over," said Abu Tark, a senior member of the Jihad movement. "Israel did not obey the agreement, and that's what led to our action."

The announcement confirms the security establishment's earlier suspicions, which also estimated that the Hizbulla was not involved.

Defense officials estimated that the Islamic Jihad in Damascus had operated via one of its cells in the Tulkarm area.

1. One wonders .....
how many suicide attacks will occur under the leadership of Abbas before he will take on terrorists from his country ??

This is a direct slap in the face to abbas's leadership.

And notice israel has decided to give abbas a chance to prove himself.

3. The oil sheikdoms used the terrorists
as an escape valve for their own dissidents, and Israel as a scape goat for their own shortcomings. Then AlQaida turned on the oil sheikdoms.

Now, the terrorists are driving out the "best and brightest" of the Arab youth. The choice is clear--

    1. Become a terrorist, or

    2. Get a good technical, professional, scientific, or medical education and leave the region. The last hopes to avoid anarchy are packing their bags and leaving.

2. How much control does Abbas has over Islamic Jihad?
How much control does Sharon have over the crazy settlers in "Judea and Samaria" that are now threatening to kill him?

4. About as much control as Abbas has over Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad
They are both powerless with respect to the lunatic fringe.

7. Abbas was the one....
who said that he could negotiate with the terrorists and he didnt need to reign them in.

And he refused to take them on.

He called them his "brothers".

8. Get this: there will always be terrorism!
Even after we have a peace settlement already implemented, there will be those on either side that will never accept anything that is short of the complete annihilation of the other side.

Fortunately, once the Occupation ends and there is a peace settlement, the majority of people in the two nations (Israel and Palestine) will be too busy rebuilding their lives and having babies to take part in the activities of the lunatic fringe.

Over time, the incidents of terrorism will become less, but they will never go away entirely for as long as there is one person alive wanting revenge.

Blood feuds last forever!

10. Rationalization taken to the nth degree
abbas stated in his campaign that :

1.terrorists that kill innocents are NOT murderers

2.terrorists that kill innocents are NOT criminals

3.terrorists that kill innocents are "HONORABLE"

4.terrorists that kill innocents need to be protected so they can continue killing innocent people.

5.Israel is the "zionist enemy"

6.Terrorists that kill innocents are "freedom fighters"

need any more proof ?

12. I am not defending Abbas, for I trust none of Arafat's former pals
Edited on Sat Feb-26-05 02:52 PM by IndianaGreen
I am merely stating that it is a losing proposition to sit and wait for all acts of terrorism to come to an end before moving forward with a peace settlement.

Palestinians are going to have a real hard time ruling themselves. The Gazans will eventually want to go their own way. The ones on the West Bank will be too occupied dealing with corruption. Both the Gazans and the West Bankers will have their hands full of Islamists that will try to impose radical Islam on everyone.

The sooner Israel gets rid of the albatross of the Occupation, the sooner she is going to be better off.

11. So - does the ADL control the JDL?
In my Bnai Brith Lodge - the President before me was a Board Member of the ADL, and the President after me was a Member of the JDL (even invited me to "Go to the range" with him and "fire a few rounds" - he was a gun collector)

Duh.

14. It's been alleged by some in the Palestinian academic world
The Palestinian Students at Berkeley and at Cal State San Francisco and former San Francisco DA Terrence Hallinan made that allegation. Major law suit and scandal out here. And there was a Prof at Hastings Law School who kept stirring the pot.

9. Al-Quds Brigades claims Israel bombing
Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility for the Tel Aviv night club bombing that killed four people.

The alleged bomber, Abd Allah Said Badran carried out the bombing operation to avenge the deaths of Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation forces, he said in a videotape message.
He also slammed the Palestinian Authority and described it as a unilaterally-ruling authority that merely follows US orders.

However, Islamic Jihad's leadership in Gaza denied any involvement in the bomb attack and said they were committed to the truce currently in force with the Israelis.
