Terror in Nablus
http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article1855.shtml

I cannot describe the horror. The soldiers were all around me and then there were clashes, rocks and glass were being thrown, sound bombs, tear gas, tank firing, machine guns, automatic weapons -- the whole nine yards were being shot and the soldiers were all next to me. They were shooting at the Palestinians. They shot someone in the head. Every time a child would look at the window they would point their guns and scream at them and cock their triggers.

For five hours, I was there next to the firing guns and tanks. I tried distracting them by talking to them which worked quite a bit so that they wouldn't notice Palestinians breaking curfew.

I prayed, I prayed, and I prayed that God would warm their hearts so that they would stop this madness. I was so scared. They were all around me shooting. I knew that I was supposed to experience this, because now I have seen the war from the soldier's point of view. Now I know what they do, say, somewhat feel, and how they act. I have so many little details I would like to tell you, but i cannot because I am in shock right now.

My mom said the Palestinians were bloodthirsty and hungry for revenge. This is not what they want. Most Palestinians want peace and their land. We all want freedom. Please don't believe the news the way the portray Palestinians. Do you know the Hamas leader they killed in Gaza was a moderate who was against bombings and was working for peace?

1. Third bomb factory discovered in Nablus...
IDF operations in Nablus entered the sixth day Wednesday. Soldiers continued searching for fugitives and weapons.

Soldiers from the Nahal Brigade operating in the city uncovered a storeroom of weapons and explosives hidden in one of the apartments in the buildings they searched.

It was the third bomb factory discovered by security forces in the city since the operation was launched last week. Soldiers found weapons, explosives, fertilizer, chemical substances, bolts and screws and a bomb comprised of several kilograms of explosives.

In addition soldiers found equipment used to manufacture bombs, and leaflets belonging to the Islamic Jihad that contained inciting material.

5. Does the joy that Hamas, et al, takes in killing Jews
justify endangering Palestinian children by having bomb factories in civilian apartment buildings?

to be a right-wing reactionary who is allowed total access to a supposedly liberal/progressive board just because you call yourself "pro-Israel"

without the mindlessly obligatory ranting of

"israeli terrorism" in the sentence.

19. actually
you were the one with the spin. The thread was started on Israeli troops terrorizing civilians in Nablus. The first post was a story about a bomb factory in Nablus. I asked how does the bomb factory justify terrorizing Palestinian civilians, when you answered with an utterly ridiculous question of your own which has zero to do with the topic addressed. Then you come back and demand common sense, not spin?

Only in I/P ....

22. Don't bombs in apartment buildings endanger children?
"Soldiers from the Nahal Brigade operating in the city uncovered a storeroom of weapons and explosives hidden in one of the apartments in the buildings they searched."

Sorry about the children being scared out of their wits. (sarcasm on) I guess they would have preferred that the soldiers not be looking for bombs in that scary way. Of course, you're right; it's much better for those children to be blown up by friendly, Palestinian bombs. So much cozier. (sarcasm off)

24. Your comment about bombs in apartment buildings
is certainly warranted. I still cannot make that leap to terrorizing the whole population. There is some logical gap for me.

It's not just the way the searches are performed are horrifying to the general population but for me it somehow doesn't warrant the destruction of nearby (or further away) homes of people that couldn't be less involved in this.

It's collective punishment, no matter how you turn it.

7. and let me guess
according to you and all the right-wing blogs you read -- ISM are "terror enabling shills" now huh.

Of course the real terror-enabling shills are the US government officials supporting the Israeli government unconditionally, but that doesn't bother you does it

10. Oh...i'm so hurt.
no....the real terrorists are the leaders of hamas et al
that talk alot about "martyrdom" and sends indoctrinated
little kids to kill themselves and as many innocent jews
as possible. (of course these terrorist leaders hide
like scared little rodents).

the schills are ISM AND the palestinian terrorists supporters
who find any way to justify these atrocities.

17. since you defend those who intentionally murdered her
it's not surprising you would plead with others to drop the story. The point is that propagandists have been engaging in a campaign of slander against the ISM ever since the Israeli army murdered Rachel, and it's obvious enough to anyone who visits this forum regularly, that you are here to continue that pathetic tradition.

23. Oh, Psychic One,
Since you know all about what goes on in the minds of others, could you predict which way the stock market is going to go, or when Bush is going to say something so stupid that even the fundies get it, or even who's going to win in California. You know, something useful.

31. The Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group (PHRMG),
says "Some residents in Nablus admit that they welcomed the curfew that the IDF troops enforced in their city last Thursday, and that they are not afraid of them. In their point of view, the curfew prevented a collapse of internal order and security in the West Bank....local residents in Nablus admit that they had been convulsed by a series of killings and murders and by shooting sprees on the street perpetrated by gunmen who claim that they belong to the Fatah movement. These gunmen's aim is to intimidate the locals or to carve out turf for themselves."
