Must-See Saudi TV, Part II
The hour-long compilation will include a talk show in which the audience laughs during a discussion of those murdered on September 11, 2001, and another wherein leading Saudi clerics explain why it is permissible to kill American soldiers in Iraq. The sampling also highlights programming on the coming collapse of America and a future Islamic conquest of the universe. Religious programs devoted to Koranic teachings encourage hatred of Jews and Christians, discuss the annihilation of Jews, and support suicide bombers by telling what happens when a martyr dies - they are rewarded by Allah with 72 black-eyed virgins.

Last week's Friday sermon from Islam's most holy site, the Al-Haram Mosque in Mecca, by its imam, Sheik Abd Al-Rahman Al-Sudayyis, will be screened, too. In the sermon he stated: "Oh Allah, liberate our Al-Aqsa Mosque from the defilement of the occupying and brutal Zionists...Oh Allah, punish the occupying Zionists and their supporters from among the corrupt infidels. Oh Allah, scatter and disperse them, and make an example of them for those who take heed."

Previously, Sheik al-Sudayyis's sermons have been characterized by confrontation against non-Muslims. He has called Jews "scum of the earth" and "monkeys and pigs" who should be "annihilated." Other enemies of Islam, he says, are "worshippers of the cross" and "idol-worshipping Hindus," who should be fought.

Any claims by the House of Saud that they are not spreading hate is simply a lie.

As the world witnesses Islamic-based terrorism, most recently in Britain, the global community must demand the Saudis stop their incitement. This is long overdue.

Sheik Abd Al-Rahman Al-Sudayyis is my favorite.

6. who the neo-cons?maybe "selective memri" from the guardian?
Are you saying its not true that Memri.org is run by ex-israeli military intelligence and the wife of a Neo-con who has worked for or with Feith,Perle, and Cheney?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/elsewhere/journalist/story/0,7792,773258,00.html

"Selective Memri

Brian Whitaker investigates whether the 'independent' media institute that translates the Arabic newspapers is quite what it seems

Monday August 12, 2000
~snip~
The reason for Memri's air of secrecy becomes clearer when we look at the people behind it. The co-founder and president of Memri, and the registered owner of its website, is an Israeli called Yigal Carmon.

Mr - or rather, Colonel - Carmon spent 22 years in Israeli military intelligence and later served as counter-terrorism adviser to two Israeli prime ministers, Yitzhak Shamir and Yitzhak Rabin.

Retrieving another now-deleted page from the archives of Memri's website also throws up a list of its staff. Of the six people named, three - including Col Carmon - are described as having worked for Israeli intelligence.

Among the other three, one served in the Israeli army's Northern Command Ordnance Corps, one has an academic background, and the sixth is a former stand-up comedian. "

Facts drdon facts :)
if you call people liars prove it

Any organization in the world headed by an Israeli by virtue of being an Israeli means that he is an ex-IDF something. Universal service is required in Israel.(but you knew that, didnt you?)

MEMRI is basically a translation service. Of course they cherry pick. The cherry picking is to expose people like Arafat who said one thing in English and then the opposite in Arabic....and now abbas..and now hamas ...and now those fun guys in SA who call jews "monkeys and pigs".

Perhaps you can cite where MEMRI was wrong in their translations besides condemning them without a clue. I will wait.G'head.

ON EDIT....perhaps they should translate the weather reports or football scores?

11.  5 people:3 military-intelligence,A CLOWN and the wife of a neo-con
its not that they are israeli, its their agenda.
i just posted 2 articles one from the guardian, and one by Juan Cole that go into what is wrong with their translation and that they cherry pick.

You see nothing strange that of the 5 people listed on their website 3 where military-intelligence,one a clown, and the other the wife of a guy who worked for feith, and perle, and now cheney and who was question by the FBI over leaking classified information to Chalabi and AIPAC.

you find it strange i question their motives?

go look for yourself:
http://web.archive.org/web/19991111031424/www.memri.org/about.html

if you dont believe the washington post, the guardian or Juan Cole?

15. I like MEMRI.
It has the guts to translate an essential part of ME discourse that others don't. This, perforce, translates into bias.

But it's rather like the kind of bias you get in electron guns in a computer monitor (CRT style, lets say RGB). Imagine you're used to having just the red display. It says what you like, and the oppressed come off as good people, worthy of defending. It comports with your understanding of human nature and other cultures. It's not always comforting, but it gives you great hope.

The next monitor over displays only blue. You look over, and the image is wildly distorted and different from what you're used to. It's obviously biased. You say so. You're completely correct.

It doesn't mean it's wrong. It just means that it's presenting information complementary to what you've already accepted. It may not even present all the information: green is still lacking.

So it is with MEMRI: it doesn't aim to be complete. It translates things nobody else has the guts to translate.

Are the translations correct? Various folks have challenged them. Various folks have come up with discrepancies. I'm a translator: there are discrepancies, and then there are *discrepancies*. Some are trivial for most purposes; others aren't. The discrepancies I've seen claimed, and stick, have all been trivial. The NYT even once hired four independent translators to disconfirm a MEMRI translation, and they couldn't--the NYT was obviously not pleased.

Are the people involved in MEMRI great, moral, upstanding people? Dunno. Don't care. I don't find that the reliability of the translations are in question; I find that the material is a valuable corrective, and is amply sourced. I've known some real bastards in academia that produce stellar research, and as long their double-dealing didn't extend to fabricating research results, it didn't matter.

14. By the standards of the new generation of Progressives
I take pride in their calling me a neo-con, Zionist, Likudnick, fascist.

The new generation of progressives have spent entirely too much smelling the wafting aromas of Sproull and Shattuck.

They are the ones -

"Gather Democrats in a circle and commence firing"

"Humphrey and Nixon - Tweedledum and Tweedledee - Don't make no difference -- Humphrey came out against the war too late --- Humphrey wasn't strong enough against the war. Tweedledum and Tweedledee - Don't make no difference."

Watergate and a Longer VietNam War

"Gore and Bush - Tweedledum and Tweedledee - Don't make no difference -- Bush is a uniter not a divider - he'll govern from the center - Tweedledum and Tweedledee - Don't make no difference"

Iraq, Rove, Neocons, PNAC, dismantling the New Deal -- Tweedledum and Tweedledee - Don't make no difference.

These are the Progressives who will give us Frist and Jeb on January 20, 2009.

10. No difference
It really is no different than when Al Franken or others use clips from O'Reily and Limbaugh as examples of the stupidity on the right. MEMRI points out the extremists, in their OWN words! I am all for pointing out the positives of the Arab culture, but there are many, some of them here at this board, who think that the hate toward Jews from Arabs/Muslims is "all in our minds." I find it interesting that they have NO problem pointing out bigoted remarks from past leaders, but when we do it with Arab or Muslim leaders it is suddenly "propaganda!"

7. "coming Islamic conquest of the universe" , excuse me
but with oil running out in about 26 years, the implosion of exiles from these Islamic 'failed states' will be the real story !

Simply deny visas and visiting rights right now to what we've got seems logical to start with right now.

Then look into What Went Wrong by Bernard Lewis, the article
and book
www.theatlantic.com/issues/2002/01/lewis.htm

and Ishad Manji's website and book The Trouble With Islam
www.muslim-refusenik.com/

The Saudis will be having a civil war sooner than you think in order to take everyone's eyes off of their blowing the oil revenues...tick tick tick.
