Hamas vows to keep arms
Hamas vows to keep arms
Reuters
August 12, 2005

Hamas militants says they will not disarm despite Israel's planned Gaza pullout, so they can carry on their fight against the Jewish state.

The comments by Hamas leaders have sharpened a challenge to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who is seeking to rein in militants to assert control over Gaza after Israel vacates its settlements.

The pullout is due to begin on Wednesday.

Hamas, which is sworn to Israel's destruction, has made it clear it has not budged from its historic goal of a creating an Islamic state that would encompass not only the West Bank and Gaza Strip but also what is now Israel.

"Arms are a holy issue. It is impossible for us to abandon our arms even if we all get killed," the head of Hamas's Qassam Brigades, Ahmed Al-Ghandour, said.

"The issue of arms is not one for discussion."

3. A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:
Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Isn't a terrorist organization. And why would a nation's armed forces not have weapons? Never heard of that before...

12. So then you would expect Palestine to have weapons
Edited on Sat Aug-13-05 07:07 PM by TomClash
as surely they are as much a nation as any other.

And many member countries of the UN do not have significant weapons. And few have any nuclear weapons, let alone 100.

Given its penchant for corruption and mismanagement, one wonders.

terrorist groups like Hamas and Palestine, right?

I think so.

17. Sure just like there was a difference between
Israel and the Irgun, the Stern Gang, Haganah and Lehi.

What's your point?

FYI: The Stern Gang and Lehi are the same thing.

20. My point is obvious
Israel was founded in part on terror.

Now, that said, the Palestinians don't have a Ben Gurion to lead them or a benefactor like the United States, two factors that played a large role in Israel's creation.

11. Fair is fair
Jewish Defense League, Kach, and Kahane Chai also refuse to give up violence and are terrorist organizations.
