Wide-spread condemnation for attack

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who throughout the day was updated on the developments in Gush Katif, issued a statement shortly after the attack near Shilo sharply condemning the second Jewish terrorist attack within two weeks.

The statement said that Sharon viewed with "utmost gravity this act of Jewish terrorism, which was directed at innocent Palestinians in the warped desire to thereby stop the Disengagement Plan."

The statement said that Sharon directed Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz, Israel Police Commissioner Moshe Karadi and Shin Bet head Yuval Diskin to treat "with utmost seriousness any attempt to attack innocent people."

Housing Minister Isaac Herzog said after the attack that "unfortunately there are crazy elements on the fringes. "

1. This is the difference between Israeli society and Palestinian society...

In Palestinian controlled areas they name streets after those who commit "martyrdom operations" and kill Israelis. The suicide bomber and terrorist is praised. In Israel the condemnation for murder comes from across the political spectrum. The Prime Minister refers to the victims as "innocent Palestinians", which is what they are.

No, I don't blame the Palestinian people as a whole, just their leadership.

My condolences to the families of the victims in this horrible attack. I hope the Israeli courts lock this guy up for the rest of his life and throw away the key.

(Side note: Israel, a civilized country, does not have the death penalty except for one crime: genocide. We still execute teenagers and mentally handicapped people in the U.S.)
