Here's the actual MSNBC poll: Do you believe any 9/11 conspiracy theories?
MSNBC poll: Do you believe any 9/11 conspiracy theories?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14727720

48% Yes. The government has left many questions unanswered about that day.

45% No. These theories are absurd and disrespectful -- especially to those who lost their lives on 9/11.

6.5% I'm not sure.

2. Are you serious
you have got to be kidding me. You might as well just run over to prisonplanet.com and take the poll there.

everytime an internet poll on this subject becomes available, it is cyberbombed by CTers. Case in point, a recent CNN online poll about the same question was publicized on the LC Forum, where members were told to go the poll and bomb it by voting multiple times. The results. I believe it was 76% of respondents believed the govt was behind 9/11.

The poll is garbage. That is why you will never see them publicize it.

Nice try.

4. Garbage poll, and malicious!!!
I hope we all notice that the poll offers a false choice, implying that none of the victims support the skeptical view. Good job checking the 'packing' ability of the poll! Who comes up with this junk science? I wouldn't mind knowing the specific person repsonsible for writing this poll. I wonder if they got a degree in jounalism, or ever took a stastics class. It certainly does not appear to be the case..

do as a poster up thread suggested and it wouldn't work. There was no way to vote twice from my computer.

It makes me wonder about what's going on....

7. it's the 2nd phase:
1 - they ignore us
2 - they ridicule us (telling us we're voting for stupid polls)
3 - they hurt us
4 - we win

That's Gandhi's wisdom, if i recall correctly.
Let's see if we can avoid phase 3.

a blatant attempt at disinformation, IE falsely claiming that anyone can vote multiple times. So maybe we are transitioning out of phase 2 into phase 3.

That would be fast. They just started ridiculing us in the national press last week. I love the smell of desperation in the afternoon.

"Stop that poll!!!! Or Else the sheep might wake up and realize everyone knows 9/11 was an inside job!!!!":bounce:

Quote from MSNBC.com:

"The participants in a Sports Live Vote and a Politics Live Vote may overlap, but each group is likely to be dominated by people with an interest in each particular area. In addition, while MSNBC.com’s Live Votes are designed to allow only one vote per user, someone who wants to vote more than once could simply use another computer or another Internet account."
ie change IP...dum dum dum...how hard is that for a hacker, or anyone who can modify their IP...dum dum dum...lol

18. but I will grant you this....
I can see how you may be right that the way I voted, from a single computer, with no change to my IP would not allow me to place a second vote (that would count anyway...i can still hit the button). I tried it again, and what I think I was seeing was the fact that it seems to tally votes in bunches...I voted "no" twice, but the vote count went up by 12, then I voted "no" again quickly...no change to the count. Than I voted "yes", and the vote count went up by 9 votes...Plus of course, others on the net are voting at the same time.

The cookie comment I would have to check, but the trouble is with the count they give you changing so quickly, you couldn't honestly tell if it was your voting alone changing the count.

So I guess in the end, it seems:

(1) They may be preventing the average person from voting more than once, either by (1) cataloguing the IP, or (b) via cookies.
(2) any one (such as many of the internet savvy LC hackers) with some comp knowledge could easily skew the vote, either by clearing cookies, or by changing their IP, or going to another computer.

20. How many IP's do you pay for, TAM?
6? or do you have six computers? or 3 of each? or are you a hacker?

"see...just then I went over there and voted "No" three times, then voted "yes" three times...noone stopped me...and the poll total votes went up each time I voted." TAM

I just have this one computer and one internet provider (IP)

By the way, it's up to 50% for the truth movement!!!!

Of course, the poll isn't scientific, as they state right on the page below the vote box. But I tried to vote again, like you said, and it didn't work for me.

19. works both ways...
CT Debunker says to another CT Debunker:

1 - they ignore us (CTers avoid JREF Forum like plague)
2 - they ridicule us (calling us shills and disinformation agents)
3 - they hurt us (comment to Debunker "Abby" after her film, by a CTer on a CT board "Give me 1 minute with her..." I wont say the rest)
4 - we win

That's Gandhi's wisdom, if i recall correctly.
Let's see if we can avoid phase 3.

23. I did it as a test to see if they might be tracking votes with cookies.
If TAM had cookies blocked it might allow the ability to vote multiple times without doing anything more than reloading the webpage to bring up the voting options again. (Although multiple votes still might not register depending on how they count them.) That might explain why TAM was allowed to apparently vote multiple times, yet you we not able to. I thought I would offer this as a possibility since you said, "It makes me wonder about what's going on...." Perhaps you were not speaking about the computer anomaly...

As far as me doing it in the way you are implying, I have little interest in the results of non-scientific online polls, but knock yourself out if you find any online polls that the 'delete cookie' method works on. I'm sure the results will be nearly as accurate whether you cheat or not. Nonetheless, I'm sure it will be well worth your time.
I honestly belive you might be an idiot.

10. Didn't say anyone was an idiot...
Edited on Fri Sep-08-06 03:46 PM by truthmover
It is possible that different operating systems allow different access, although I would doubt that this is the case. Either way, its a bit unfair to imply that TAM was diliberately misleading us. Its cerainly possible. Not worth arguing about. More important is the point I made about the poll presenting a false choice. This is a bad poll from a sociological/statistical point of view. Online polls are highly problematic in general. The statistical relevance is generally very low. AND THERE ARE VICTIMS WHO QUESTION THE OFFICIAL STORY!!!!

No, the person at NBC responsible for this poll question is not an idiot, and that concerns me greatly.

26. The point of this poll is not to get an accurate answer
The point of the poll is to hype the upcoming 9/11 broadcasting, also known as 9/11 porn.

No one, at least not one who is informed, is likely to say that there are not unanswered questions. The family steering committee of the 9/11 Commission is very unhappy and has a lot of "unanswered questions", I personally think their opinion should count more than ours.

In this poll you either think that all the questions are answered, you think those with questions are being absurd and disrespectful to the people who lost their lives that day, or you've been living in a cave for the last 5 years - like Usama. It's an excellent use of auto-suggestion, whether it's intentional or not is not for anyone to know.

BTW, you must have used different machines or deleted your cookies or something to vote more than once.

No. These theories are absurd and disrespectful -- especially to those who lost their lives on 9/11.

Did the families of the victims made a movie?
I heard Bill Doyle said that a majority believes in an "inside job"

Edited on Fri Sep-08-06 04:09 PM by Nozebro
Since there are so many OCTers here, you shouldn't be dissing them by not including the 9/11 conspiracy theory they support (or at least defend - though many or maybe even all actually do support it).

24. Why can't the answer be just yes or no?
Especially on "no" they had to add all that judgmental language. I wouldn't answer "no" because of that language.

Also Yes, I could answer, though it does not necessarily mean one has to believe any particular conspiracy theory.
