Report from Ground Zero
Yesss!!!

That was the largest rally for 9/11 truth yet. The energy was amazing. A real shot in the arm for any of us who have been feeling a bit pessimistic. A big thanks to the NY911truth and Loose Change crews, and Frank Morales and Alex Jones, for making this work and successful.

First of all, that morning Dylan and Jason did a great job standing up to the establishment goons sent to debate them on Democracy Now! At Ground Zero, Jones kicked ass getting the crowd hyped up, Luke did a great job keeping our crowd in line, and everyone kept their cool. I saw Zwicker and Rodreguez, still in makeup from TV interviews, talking to movement folks, and the curious. Jenette waved from her window above. Kerry and Eric got a lot of attention, as always, with their infamous and huge, "The Bush Regime Engineered 9/11" sign. Later Tom gave a rousing speech about how we fight for justice with and for the police and not against them. They certainly had to protect us more than anyone else at ground zero that day.

At one point, carrying our sign around, and not being able to set down in one place, one of the monks conducting a prayer for peace, asked us to stand behind them. He specifically wanted the side that says "9/11 was an inside job." to face forward. The other side says "The lies will not stand!" They were playing drums and chanting. The police had a hard time keeping all the people moving past us. We were both moved by the gesture, and felt honored to join their prayer.

Amid a number of high points, there were also some challenging moments. We got yelled at a bit more than others for carrying our large banner sign. Although we all felt the sting of anger that day, we knew that we would face this. To some this was an annoyance and even humorous. Others were more hurt by what was said. We decided to take our fears in hand and set up along the memorial wall, just off the main gathering area. For some reason the police nearby did not ask us to move. As we stood there, many people had negative things to say. Other's engaged us in conversation. A couple of people gave their support. At one point someone stood on a step and proclaimed that we were awful people. A crowd gathered, and he launched into an attack on our character. We stood our ground, tried to say something rational, and he moved on. A couple people told us that we shouldn't be protesting at someone else's cemetery.

That's a hard call. While I sympathize with their loss, as I fight to determine who killed their loved ones, I also recognize that some issues need to cross boundary lines of comfort. The fact that we are destroying our ecosystem, for example, should not be restricted by the boundaries of decorum. Nor should the possibility that we may killed by our government in some future false flag operation. In other words, I don't care if the truth scares you, when I see that you are unconsciously walking a suicidal path. We spank the child that runs into the street to remind them that death hurts a lot more. That's love. But, none the less, I'm not proud of having insulted anyone. I hope that they will someday soon understand why we are doing this.

While many in the movement have both professional and personal differences, the most compelling overall sense of the experience to me was one of our unity. When we are all out on the street together, all fighting for the same thing, especially in the eyes others, all subject to the same prejudice, a lot of our differences seem less important. Let's all hold on to a bit of that feeling as we go back to our various pursuits, and try to let it rub off on others.

What's next !?!

3. I've heard

that there were about 1000 people demonstrating and MSM is always showing the crowd from the bottom of the earth to hide the mass of people.

4. Definately at least 800 people.
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 07:26 AM by truthmover
When we first go there at nine there were already about 400 people there in black shirts. Our presence was unmistakable. During the silent march at ten, there were at least 600 - 800. And by the time Alex Jones spoke at two, taking into account all those who came because of the movement, but did not wear a shirt, or choose to join the protest group, there must have been 1000 people at Ground Zero who supported our cause.

But as you say, the media did us no favors. What little coverage we got was used to dismiss our cause. I just read an article that ended by saying that the conspiracy theorists are a threat to the necessary pro-war bias of the public in a time of war. Huh? It looks like the MSM is in desperate overdrive to prevent the success of our national promotional efforts. We're still winning the info war. The bastards haven't turned off the internet yet...

8. Some good photos
Kate's photos

and commentary from realitybites at JREF:

I'll hand it to the truthers... they had a solid contingent of black t-shirted... people. More than I thought would show, but I'm sure not as many as DylanCo hoped. All the regulars from the Saturday faction, plus a lot of new faces that were there to "educate" (most of whom had to have been skipping class to be there), each with a handful of a certain DVD. Being that there were so many new faces who didn't recognize our little group, we decided to have a contest on which one of us could collect the most copies by the end of the day. (A final tally has yet to be done, but I think I had a pretty good showing.)

A couple scuffles broke out during the memorial. Signs reading "USA Did 9/11", "The Bush Regime Engineered 9/11" both temporarily fell victim to people who didn't take kindly to the message they stated. Some shouting, yelling, swearing, etc. from both sides popped up a couple times.* Unfortunately, this all went down while family members were reading the names of their loved ones.

* I should state that the four of us kept our cool. Those shouting who were on our side were namely members or former members of the Armed Services. And while I wish these confrontations would've happened after the memorial, I can't really hold it against these guys for speaking their mind to these... people.

Then the cameras showed up. And with them, Alex Jones. Gravy got a brief one-on-one with him, but I'll let the master tell that tale.

For me, the low point of the day was when Jones got on his bullhorn, stood at the foot of the graveyard at St. Pauls chapel, and started preaching to the choir. As soon as he started to speak, the black shirts immediately dropped what they were doing, and flocked to the curbs to see their "father" in action. In hindsight, it boggles my mind that they have the audacity to refer to us as "sheeple". He then led his disciples in a repetitive chorus of "9/11 was an inside job."

Local news says up to 5000, Loose Chnage say up to 2000 others say around 1000

Because Paula Zahn won't show it to me

11. Reality Check - Maybe 1500
This all depends upon who much you try to factor in an estimation of those who came to support 9/11 truth, but did not wear a black shirt, and did not go on the march. The march was 500 - 600 people. I know for certain that there were at least 1000 people there for 9/11 truth at the peak of attendance.

I often wonder as to the motivation for overestimating attendees. This was the biggest rally and march for 9/11 truth yet! 400 people would have been the biggest. TOTAL SUCCESS as is! No need to talk about 5000. Maybe 2000, but its not like the MSM covered the event. Total blackout and smear! What's important is that thousands of people saw what we did. Thousands took flyers and DVDs. Thousands will be newly curious. No need to exaggerate to see the success.

Next year we may be able to fulfill Luke Rudkowski's vision of getting enough people to hold hands all the way around the WTC. PROGRESS!!!!
