Fans of magician David Blaine weigh in on 9/11
Edited on Wed Mar-14-07 12:45 PM by HamdenRice
Since we have Amazin Randi fans here who are involved in "debunking" criticism of the official story, I thought it would be interesting to post what certain fans of David Blaine have to say about 9/11.

It's not much. One of David Blaine's stunts was to have himself suspended over the Thames River in London in September 2003. Many Londoners thought little of the stunt and that Blaine was a self important "tosser."

After eggs were thrown at Blaine's box, it was suggested in a local paper that Londoners throw sausages at Blaine:

The Throw Sausages at David Blaine Day (Metro, 11/9/03) is a concept of pure genius and deserves the unqualified support of every person capable of hurling smallgoods at self important tossers. Surely there is a supermarket manager out there who can see the obvious sponsorship opportunities? See you on the day.

In reply to Jonathan Blyth throwing sausages at David Blaine, is it OK if I bring a sausage roll instead? I think that the extra weight and rigidity will make it easier to hit the target now that they have erected a security fence to keep back people such as ourseleves.

Sadly, the sausage throwing was advocated to take place on September 11, 2003. Some Londoners who supported David Blaine felt that the coincidence of the sausage attack on Blaine with the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks was unfortunate and in bad taste.

I could not believe what I was reading this morning (Mail Metro, Blaine in the Neck, 11th Sept '03). I work on a desk full of Americans and am mortified that today of all days you print a letter from a Mr Jonathan Blyth encouraging throwing of sausages at Mr Blaine. How irresponsible are you being knowing how stupid British people have been behaving over Mr Blaine's stunt. I am so embarrassed and will not be collecting my free copy of Metro tomorrow - now I know why it is free!

<unquote>

Others felt that the September 11th sausage throwing had no relationship to the terrorist attacks:

<quote>

Excuse me? I'm terribly sorry, you mental old bitch, but how does this relate to 9/11? Because Blaine is an American? Don't be such a mental old bitch. You mental bitch.

<unquote>

Well, now that this small bit of anomalous (for this forum) humor has gotten your attention, why don't you go to this thread and answer one of the questions?

1. Why?
Why would anyone waste a perfectly good sausage roll? And I saw no mention of beer. What a shame. Sausage rolls and no beer. What is the world coming to?

That being said, I think I'd be up for hurling Oscar Myer weiners at several 9/11 truthers.

2. The problem is the distance
It is easy to throw a beer (actually in London, more likely to be ale or bitter) in the face of the fellow across the table at the pub than to throw it dozens of yards to David Blaine's box/cage.

Apparently, sausage rolls are also easier to throw than sausages.

3. What the heck is a sausage roll?
Having never been across the water I am not familiar with this, which I assume is some sort of food item.

4. I've never been to the UK either

But we have them around here (I live in Central NY). Basically it's a sausage baked into pastry (of some sort -- that varies, as does the type of sausage). Sometimes they're also stuffed with onions and peppers or other things. They're a perfect food to accompany beer and sometimes served at bars.

The idea of throwing perfectly good sausage rolls is just too horrid to contemplate. Why would someone commit such a senseless act?

5. I think I have experience this food before.
Is this similar to the "pigs in a blanket" that I was served as a child?

Perhaps the throwing of sausage rolls only accompanies the serving of one too many beers at bars?

8. Yes!

Pigs in a blanket are similar. Although vastly inferior. At least the ones my mother made, which were hot dogs baked into Bisquick.

You might be onto something. Drunken sausage roll tossing. Wonder if we could sell it to ESPN?

6. Ding, ding, ding!!!
If I remember correctly from my stays in London and Birmingham, this is an accurate description of a sausage roll.

It may be horrible to contemplate throwing one at David Blaine rather than eating it, unless you are trying to make a "point."

7. No, that was my point
A senseless waste of perfectly good bar food. And no beer to boot. Terrible!
