Target: Patton
http://www.targetpatton.com/offers/offer.php?id=TPAT001

The death of General George S. Patton is shrouded in mystery. While officially the result of an unfortunate car accident, the evidence points to a far more malevolent plot: murder. So says investigative and military journalist Robert K. Wilcox in his new book: Target: Patton: The Plot to Assassinate General George S. Patton.

Written like a WWII spy thriller and meticulously researched, Target: Patton leads you through that fateful December day in 1945, revealing a chilling plan to assassinate General Patton.

Backing up this shocking story with facts, photos, and eyewitness statements, Wilcox reveals long-hidden documents and accounts that could explain how Patton's strong anti-Soviet views may have cost him his life.

Not only does Wilcox reveal how, why, and when, he also names names—exposing little-known stories and secrets of such key players as General "Wild Bill" Donovan, the storied head of the OSS (the predecessor to the CIA); an OSS assassin; an Army intelligence agent; and even Josef Stalin himself.

All the more spine-tingling because it deals with facts, not fiction, Target: Patton reveals:

the extraordinary war hero, artist, and mercenary who said he was ordered by U.S. intelligence to assassinate Patton

at least 5 known reports about the accident that have vanished from government archives

new evidence from recently declassified documents revealing doubts about the official version of Patton's death

the OSS agent who knew Patton was in danger and tried to save him

the final stories of those involved in the accident, including those who were thought to have disappeared—until now

Another lonely day, with no one here but me, oh
More loneliness than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair, oh

I'll send an S.O.S. to the world
I'll send an S.O.S. to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle,
Message in a bottle,

A year has passed since I wrote my note
But I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life but
Love can break your heart
I'll send an S.O.S. to the world
I'll send an S.O.S. to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my

Message in a bottle,

Message in a bottle,
Message in a bottle,

Walked out this morning, don't believe what I saw
Hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone in being alone
Hundred billion castaways, looking for a home
I'll send an S.O.S. to the world
I'll send an S.O.S. to the world
I hope that someone gets my

SLAD there are good books and bad books and even terrible books. You appear to be recommending this book. It is hard to tell because you never outright say what you think... but it appears that way. How can you recommend something you haven't read?

What is *YOUR* opinion on the topic of the book?

You know as well as I you would not read this book merely on my recommendation so why even ask? Where pray tell is your question coming from?

It's painfully apparent that you haven't read the book and have no thoughts of your own on it. Your post(s) therefore joins the pantheon of nearly every one of your posts in that it is either ponderously long and incoherent, or is just one more time that you encounter some conspiracy book (theory, whatever) that tickles your fancy. Since you seem incapable of rationally analyzing it, you just foist it on the rest of us, then scream bloody murder if someone calls you on it and usually allage we are trying to supress free speech.

17. You have an interesting (though entirely incorrect) idea of what a fact is.
I am actually interested in what evidence is presented in the book of a plot to kill Patton. I may not agree with the conclusion, there is a decent chance I will not read the book, but what is presented is of interest to me.
I am also interested in what you think of it. Mostly if not entirely because you NEVER tell us what you think of anything.

Thus what you "know for a fact" is utter bullshit.

How about you provide us (not just me and 'Mr. D' but all of the people reading this thread) with your thoughts on the book.

What arguments where put forth in the book and what did you think about them?

13. Not necessarily true.
I honestly don't think I have EVER seen you express any opinion of your own here. So how are you judging my reaction to your opinion?

I was hoping that you might have actually read the book and have something to say about the merits of it's arguments, writing, etc.
Would I read it on your recommendation? Maybe, probably not on only that. But perhaps based on a discussion that could start. It's not like I never read books I am likely to disagree with.

The problem is you haven't provided ANYTHING of your own here. I have no idea if you read the book much less what you thought of it's merits.

So I ask again.
Have you read the book?
What do YOU think about the subject?

Douglas DeWitt Bazata, Artist And O.S.S. Officer, Dies at 88

Published: August 22, 1999
Douglas DeWitt Bazata, who served with the United States Office of Strategic Services behind enemy lines in France in World War II and later became an artist, died on July 14 in his home in Chevy Chase, Md. He was 88.

The death of Mr. Bazata was belatedly reported to The New York Times.

He was described as ''a red-haired soldier of fortune who called all colonels 'Sugar' '' in a 1978 book, ''Honorable Men,'' by William E. Colby, a former Director of Central Intelligence, and Peter Forbath.

Mr. Bazata had already served in the Marines and was a skilled boxer and marksman when he became an Army officer in 1942 and also joined the O.S.S., the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency.

He went on to be one of a daring group of about 50 American parachute officers who volunteered for what Mr. Colby described as ''a highly hazardous mission'' in Nazi-occupied France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Other members of the group included Stewart Alsop, later a noted journalist, and Mr. Colby.

In Britain, the American group received training for operations as commandos and behind-the-lines guerrillas in what was called the O.S.S.'s Operation Jedburgh. It is said to have received that name from a place in Scotland where ''Jedburgh justice'' for sheep rustlers was said to mean, ''Hang them first and question them afterward.''

More than 250 American and other Allied ''Jeds,'' as they became known, were dropped by parachute in three-man international teams across France, Belgium and the Netherlands to aid in leading the resistance in those countries against the German occupiers.

28. Diaries and interviews by Wilcox
http://www.coasttocoastam.com/shows/2008/12/13.html

Douglas Bazata, a self-proclaimed assassin for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), was ordered to "stop Patton." Wilcox said he personally spoke with Bazata as well as read through his diary entries. Bazata claimed to have been paid $10,000 to plan the assassination of Patton. According to Wilcox, Bazata set up a car accident to make it appear as though Patton had died in a collision. Bazata's plan failed, however, and Patton was only seriously injured. Patton was taken to a hospital where he started to recover before dying suddenly of a blood clot in his brain. Wilcox suggested a poison was used to make it look like Patton had died from the brain embolism.

I tried to order the book from Amazon, because I found the interview I heard compelling. I trust Ian Punnett, who is about as far from a conspiracy theorist as anyone around (despite being a Coast to Coast interviewer). He loved the book. Unfortunately, Amazon can't get it for a few weeks, so it was off my list.

Wilcox interviewed the guy and read his diaries. One could easily dismiss this, but all the records pertaining to this from the military are missing. Hmmm, lots of coincidences.

Dead, dead, dead stained from blood so red

Wasting away
By God’s hand
I can smell you
And my thought disappeared

Dead, dead, dead I make you dead
Dead, dead, dead stained from blood so red
Dead, dead, dead, dead

I make you dead I make you dead
I make you dead I make you dead

Tell me what you want
That you fill my longing (that you satisfy my desire)
I make you dead for evermore
God’s altar stained from blood so red

Dead, dead, dead I make you dead
Dead, dead, dead stained from blood so red

I make you dead for evermore
I make you dead believe me its true
I make you dead for evermore
I make you dead on God’s altar

in depth thought you may or may not realize is the nic of Fritz Haarmann. Don't you boys go on an flatter yourselves now. Even though I might find you young chaps amusing, in no way are you all capable of holding a candle to old Fritz.

"Der Totmacher"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fritz_Haarmann

From 1919 to 1924, Haarmann committed at least 24 murders. Haarmann's victims were young male vagrants and male prostitutes who hung around Hanover's central railway station, whom Haarmann would lure back to his apartment and then kill by biting through their throats while sodomizing them. Rumour had it that Haarmann would then peddle meat from the bodies of his victims as canned black market pork, although there was never evidence to confirm this. TruTV Crime Library, (linked below) claims he did indeed do this, though, and puts the murder toll at 27 rather than 24. His accomplice and live-in partner, Hans Grans, gave the victims' clothes to charity or sold them cheaply, and Haarmann claimed Grans urged him to kill handsome boys, but was otherwise not involved in the murders.

Haarmann was eventually apprehended when numerous skeletal remains, which he had dumped into the river Leine, washed up downstream. His trial was very spectacular; it was one of the first major media events in Germany. The term "serial killer" had not yet been coined, and the public and press were lost for words to describe the case; he was called a "werewolf", a "vampire", and a "sexual psychopath" at the same time. But apart from the cruelty of what Haarmann had admittedly done, even more scandalous - shaking German society to the core - was the involvement of the police in the case: Haarmann was a police informant who frequently gave up other criminals to investigators; until Haarmann was arrested, it had never occurred to police that the serial killer they were looking for was well-known to them and right under their nose.

Haarmann was found guilty and beheaded with a guillotine. Grans was initially found guilty of inticement to murder in a single case of 24 deaths concerned and also sentenced to death. The discovery of a letter from Haarmann declaring Grans's innocence later led to a second trial and a 12-year prison sentence for him. After serving his time, Grans continued to live in Hannover until his death around 1980.

After his execution, Haarmann's head was preserved in a jar by scientists to examine the structure of his brain. Haarmann's head is now kept at the Göttingen medical school.

The case stirred much discussion in Germany about the death penalty, the correct approach towards mentally ill offenders, police investigation methods, and homosexuality.<1>

50. No way in hell do I believe that shit, SLAD.
You must be conflating my post with boloboffin's. I only expressed my hunch that if one of us(the people you are frequently difficult with) posted lyrics like that in reply to you, that you would take it as a death threat or at least behave as though it were. You know, that all caps multi-reply thing you do from time to time after totally misinterpreting someones meaning.

The Truth
What if half the things ever said turned out to be a lie?
How will you know the truth?
If you were given all the answers when you stopped to wonder why
But how will you know the truth?

Everybody's got a right to love
Everybody's got a right to lie
But the choice you make, it ain't no piece of cake
It ain't no motherfuckin' piece of pie

What if time's only reason was to give us all somethin' to fear?
And if so, y'all, the end of the journey's so clear

Questionnaire - "What did you stand for?"
Questionnaire - "Who did for save?"
When it gets right down to it
Wait a minute
When it gets right down to the nitty of the gritty
When it gets right down to it
Did you take more than you gave?

Everybody's got a right to love
Everybody's got a right to lie
But the choice you make, it ain't no piece of cake
It ain't no motherfuckin', motherfuckin' piece of pie!

Mm, well
Gotta tell the truth, y'all, gotta tell the truth! {x3}

If there was just one day when everybody told the truth
We'd all trade bank accounts and move to Neptune

-Prince Rogers Nelson

49. You see there has been an awful lot of killing going on the last few days in the name of God
that it is the will of God. That's what that song is about, sorry to burst your bubble. I wasn't thinking of you or your buddies. I was thinking of 345 killed and over 1600 wounded (ethnicity deleted cause I am not sure I can even say that here anymore) people.

51. Actually in this case I am genuinely interested.
I haven't heard any of the interviews etc. I tend to want to hear at least a little bit about the evidence for/against something before investing time in an entire book. There are an awful lot of terrible books out there.

52. I heard that interview too
(although I listen to CtC very rarely, it just happened to be on at work one evening)

It was a very compelling interview and the author certainly seemed to have done his research. I hope to read the book soon as well.

2. I heard Wilcox on Coast to Coast
I would say that he was rather convincing. Ian Punnett really loved the book, and couldn't put it down. He said it was just short of a smoking gun.

Patton was strongly in favor of attacking the USSR so that the eastern European nations would not be Communist. He was incensed that a few hundred of our troups were caught behind the Communist lines and sent to Siberia. He wanted to expose that. Also he was furious that Montgomery had used political pull to stop one of Patton's drives during the war. Patton was married to someone with a ton of money, and thus didn't need the military pension. He would have gone on a speaking tour based on all these issues, and could have done a lot of damage to our chosen foreign policy.

Wilcox himself seems a little bit right wing and a little bit strident. Saying Patton's offensive could have saved a lot of American lives is second guessing of the highest order. However, he makes a convincing case that Patton was offed.

53. This is the way it appears to go down
in History. Great Leaders are assassinated, 3 or 4 decades pass sometimes more then out comes the truth. The same can be said for JFK, MLK, and RFK. We do not lose anything by investigating tragic events. Everyone should welcome new evidence based on hard facts.
Keep up the good work DUers :kick:
