Netanyahu says 9/11 terror attacks good for Israel
Posted by Christa on Fri Feb-06-09 06:17 AM

The Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv on Wednesday reported that Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu told an audience at Bar Ilan university that the September 11, 2001 terror attacks had been beneficial for Israel.

"We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq," Ma'ariv quoted the former prime minister as saying. He reportedly added that these events "swung American public opinion in our favor."

Netanyahu reportedly made the comments during a conference at Bar-Ilan University on the division of Jerusalem as part of a peace deal with the Palestinians.

4. BTW your link seems to be down...
and I hope it isn't an anti-semetic site as linking to those is against the rules.
Also your quote contains some factual errors that have been debunked repeatedly. You need to find a better source.

6. It is because it was posted in I/P and moved because the article is
almost a year old.

5. I remember he said this on US television on 9/11 or 9/12
maybe 9/13, but it was immediately after the attacks. He wasn't shy about it at all, so I assume this is a statement of his consistent view of his geopolitical cost/benefit calculation.

7. Off the top of my head
He said that it was beneficial in that the US now knew what Israelis went through every day. This was a year after the start of the 2nd Intifada and only a few months after a suicide bomber had killed 21 people in a club.

10. Your drive by insult has been duly noted

As usual, you have absolutely nothing of content to add to the conversation. But then again, you never do.

Please go read a book (other than fantasy about talking gorillas). Go to a website with actual information. Go find a documentary film. Even better, travel somewhere and see how the rest of the world lives.

When you have some information or analysis to contribute, then get back to us.

9. That was not the exchange I was thinking of
I believe he was being interviewed by Ted Koppel and after he explained his point of view, the interviewer asked whether 9/11 was "good for Israel" and he said yes. He then seemed embarrassed about his answer.
