KDLarsen, to your list, I would recommend the additional following books and reports:
The Joint Inquiry report on 9/11, the 9/11 Commission report, the DOJ IG report, the CIA IG report, the account of FBI Agent Ali Soufan by Lawrence Wright, the web site for the Moussaoui trial, with all of the defense exhibits, and the book "State of Denial" by Bob Woodward. You can put the entire story on 9/11 from just these books and reports.
You can get all but the "State of Denial" at no cost off of the internet. If you don't want to buy the "State of Denial", all you need is the information on the meeting in the White House between Tenet and Black and Rice and Clarke on July 10, 2001, and you can get all of the information on this meeting off of the internet.
To put this account back together, build a detailed time line from the DOJ IG report, this is the most complete report on 9/11, particularly the interaction between the CIA and FBI, and then fill in the holes from the other reports, the account of Soufan being the most important and complete for doing this. Most of the information in the account of Ali Soufan is completely missing from the other reports, even very the mention of Soufan, who was lead FBI investigator on the Cole bombing.
You can use the information that comes off of the Moussaoui trial web site for the exhibits entered into this trial as even more proof of your conclusions. See
http://www.vaed.uscourts.gov/notablecases/moussaoui/exhibits/. The following exhibits are the most important:
DE #939 Substitution for the testimony of John, aka CIA Deputy Chief of the CIA Bin Laden unit, Tom Wilshire. This proves that Wilshire and even the CIA management knew in July 2001 that Mihdhar would take part in the next big al Qaeda terrorist attack, and that Wilshire and FBI Agent Dina Corsi were told on August 22, 2001 that both Mihdhar and Hazmi were inside of the US. At this point both Wilshire, and most likely Corsi knew these terrorists were inside of the US in order to take part in a catastrophic al Qaeda terrorist attack.
DE #448, this is the NSA release approved by the NSA on August 27, 2001 for FBI Agent Dina Corsi, a release approved even before she told FBI Agent Steve Bongardt on August 28, 2001 that he could not investigate and search for Mihdhar and Hazmi because she did not have a written release from the NSA.
DE #681 Email from Corsi to John Liguori, the FBI manager that accidentally gave Corsi's EC to Bongardt on August 28, 2001, with the information on Mihdhar and Hazmi. In this email Corsi says this information cannot be given to Bongardt because the information had not been approved to be shared with FBI criminal investigators when in fact she had already gotten approval two days before on August 27, 2001 from the NSA to give this exact information to "the FBI Cole investigators in New York".
DE #682 is the email FBI HQ Agent Dina Corsi sent to Bongardt, the lead US investigator on the Cole bombing on August 29, 2001, telling him he cannot investigate and search for Mihdhar and Hazmi because of the "wall", when at this point Corsi already has the NSA release and even knows that Mihdhar and Hazmi had actually taken part in the planning of the Cole bombing at the Kuala Lumpur al Qaeda planning meeting in January 2000. Because Mihdhar and Hazmi had taken part in a crime, the Cole bombing, the wall no longer applied to any information on either Mihdhar and Hazmi, and both the CIA and FBI HQ were aware of this.
In this email she claims that she and Rod, (Rod Middleton, her boss), had talked to the NSLU the day before, on August 28, 2001, and were told their advice to Bongardt on August 28, 2001 was accurate, that Bongardt was not allowed to take part in any investigation of Mihdhar and Hazmi because of NSA restrictions of this information. But according to page 538, footnote 81 in the 9/11 Commission report, Sherry Sabol, the attorney Corsi had contacted, tells DOJ IG investigators on November 7, 2002, that she did not give Corsi this advice but told Corsi that Bongardt could take part in any investigation and search for Mihdhar and Hazmi since the NSA information was not connected to any FISA warrant. Bongardt at this time was unaware that both Corsi and Middleton knew that the CIA had been hiding the photograph of Khallad Bin Attash, mastermind of the Cole bombing, taken at Kuala Lumpur from him and his team of Cole bombing investigators to make sure he would not have sufficient evidence to start any investigation of Mihdhar and Hazmi. Incredibly, according to the DOJ IG report, Middleton was actually given this photograph of Khallad taken at Kuala Lumpur by the CIA the very next day on August 30, 2001, which was the very proof being withheld from Bongardt, that he would have needed to have been able to start any investigation and search for Mihdhar and Hazmi. Almost 3000 people most of them Americans were murdered on 9/11 because of this criminal sabotage of Bongardt’s investigation of Mihdhar and Hazmi.
DE #469, this is the actual EC written by FBI Agent Dina Corsi that accidentally went to Bongardt on August 28, 2001. Reading this EC is absolutely chilling, when you realize that almost 3000 people were about to die because this EC and the information behind this EC was criminally withheld from FBI Agent Steve Bongardt and his team.
