A friend of ours, Jack Riddler posted this thread back in 2007.

A HISTORY OF THE 9/11 TRUTH MOVEMENT AND 911TRUTH.ORG

Ever since the moment of the first impact at the World Trade Center, a struggle has raged between two broad, competing ideas of what really happened on September 11th, 2001.

The US administration delivered an almost immediate verdict, which can be described as follows: Dispatched by Osama Bin Ladin's network and motivated by hatred and religious fanaticism, 19 suicide bombers hijacked four planes, crashed three of them into their targets, and caused the collapse of the Twin Towers as a consequence of the resulting damage and fires. The 19 men did not necessarily require any accomplices within the United States; and no one in the US government could have possibly anticipated or prevented the attacks.

Even as the administration exploited this Official Story (or "Official Conspiracy Theory") as the pretext to launch new wars long in the making, independent researchers began to accumulate a vast body of evidence suggesting a different narrative for 9/11: that of the Inside Job.

The 9/11 events and the anomalies in the official story raised Unanswered Questions about:
- the unprecedented failure of the US air defense system on the morning of the attacks;
- the AWOL military chain of command during the actual attacks, including the inexplicable behavior of the presidential entourage;
- the seeming impossibility of official claims with regard to Flight 77;
- the evidence that Flight 93 was shot down;
- contradictions and dubious evidence in the official claims about the alleged hijackers and masterminds, and doubts about their real identities;
- signs that the alleged hijackers enjoyed high-level protection against discovery by honest investigators;
- evidence that the alleged hijackers were financed by states allied with US intelligence;
- suspicious and massive international financial trades suggesting foreknowledge of the attacks;
- widespread signs of official foreknowledge and, in fact, advance preparation for the 9/11 attack scenario;
- the long-running links between Islamist fundamentalist terror cells and US covert operations, dating back to CIA support for the anti-Soviet mujahedeen and Osama Bin Ladin himself;
- the demolition-like collapse of the Twin Towers and of a third skyscraper, WTC 7;
- and questions concerning who could have logically expected to derive benefit in the aftermath of a massive attack on the United States.

The suspicions received further impetus a few weeks after September 11th, with the arrival of anthrax letters targeted only at opposition politicians and media figures, and timed to coincide with the introduction of the USA PATRIOT Act.

2. I think there may be a misunderstanding
Ever since the moment of the first impact at the World Trade Center, a struggle has raged between two broad, competing ideas of what really happened on September 11th, 2001.

There has never been such a struggle, 9/11 'truth' has always been a secondary, insignificant, tinfoil-hatting conspiracy theory. Anyone who has taken more than two minutes to examine the 9/11 truth movement and their arguments, is easily able to discount any of their wild theories, most of whom are based on basic misunderstanding of the actual evidence, how things work in the real world, and general ignorance.

3. You think?
It doesn't appear that you have, or you wouldn't claim such outlandish things.

The actual evidence points to a coverup by bushco. And the media is scared to touch it, just like they were scared to touch the WMD and Iraq war BS that came from bushco.

If there be any general ignorance it comes from believing the OCT and denying anything that contradicts that theory.

More and more folks are waking up to see that their belief in the OCT is becoming full of many reasonable doubts, and so, eventually, bushco will be forever hated.

That's funny. That's PRECISELY where I read about the WMD lies, dude. Maybe you should read more.

5. One would be lead to believe that after 8+ years
the meme of More and more folks are waking up would be getting worn out as the "more and more" never seems to materialize.

6. I was just going to post the same thing
Where are these "more and more" I'm always hearing about?
You guys should hold a big rally in DC and start counting. I'll be shocked if you hit 3 figures.

10. More and more
If you saw the threads here last week about the two Texas candidates coming out with questions you wouldn't be asking.

Imagine that, after 8 years they finally come out - on the M$M - and openly question bushco. After 8 years!!

Of course, they were quickly beat down, but hey, that's to be expected.
The M$M doesn't want to even think about it... they're scared.

12. Nah. Never even heard of her before
But it is amazing she questioned bush, eh? The former gov. of Texas, and she questioned him? Amazing.

More and more, everyday.

15. She questioned bushco?
In what way? Seemed much more like a miscalculation in marketing herself to Texas (or a disparate attempt to garner votes from fringe voters)

And if there are more and more everyday, why did she immediately backpedal on her comments?

13. Don't rely on polls - Simply ask around
If you hang out with "normal" people, simply ask around. I find it truly amazing that most everyone I ask about it has strong suspicions of a government cover-up/involvement. Many are not willing to take the leap of a MIHOP position, but most suspect LIHOP at a minimum.

Obviously the success of such personal polling depends on who you ask and who you are surrounded by. But, when I am surrounded by a bunch of peace officers, former peace officers, and government employees from 9 to 5 and most don't believe the OCT, it does make you wonder...

The most frequent response I get is along these lines "We can't do anything about it, so I don't waste my energy on it." It is the same response you get when you ask people why they don't vote. And, the unfortunate thing is that the government relies upon the apathy of its citizenry in all it does...

14. In truthers minds (it seems)
someone that believes the government may be not be completely transparent regarding 9/11 is the same thing as "LIHOP at a minimum."

I think it's true that many normal (not BS addicts) people are suspicious the government has not told the complete story about 9/11, but I also know that few think 9/11 was LIHOP or MIHOP.

16. Maybe in your experience...
As I said, the diverse people I am surrounded by daily, who work for the government, have directly expressed they believe the government was involved in some way or did not act because it served their specific interests... Not, as you said, being merely suspicious of the government not telling the whole story. There is a huge difference, but if you want to throw those types into the mix, then I think I can confidently say nearly everyone I have ever asked thinks they are hiding something, LIHOP, or MIHOP. And, if any one those are a reality we have a huge problem.

8. What is your standard for government transparency
and accountability to the public? Is the secrecy ok? Is the fearmongering ok? Is the propaganda ok? Is it ok for politicians to exploit the victims of 9/11 at every turn?

7. You forget
that it is ok for government officials to be held to an extremely low standard of conduct. In fact it's more than ok. They have earned the benefit of the doubt.

9. What?
""earned the benefit of the doubt""

Bushco earned nothing but scorn. Those authoritarian bastards will go down in history as the worst heads of government this country ever had, or will have.
