Tonight PBS played the shill game
Edited on Mon May-03-10 09:37 PM by tetedur
American Experience the "Road to Memphis" insofar as they had the usual shills blaming James Earl Ray for the death of Martin Luther King.

Shame on them.

No mention of the jury that "effectively exonerated and found that a conspiracy existed which included agents of the City of Memphis, the State of Tennessee and the Government of the United States. In fact, the judge had apportioned 70 percent of the liability on those official co-conspirators." (p. 148, An Act of State: The Execution of Martin Luther King, William Pepper.

It demonstrates very effectively, even if there is a jury trial, the truth will be ignored. History will be rewritten.
There is no justice.

1. "The truth will be ignored"
That is what makes me proud when some dumbass besmirches me for thinking there are so many lies... I know, if not for smart folks like us, the truth would never even have a chance to be known.

Keep on questioning. It is the right of a free press that we are experiencing and practicing.

3. Plagiarist Posner «» Marrell McCullough
Edited on Mon May-03-10 11:41 PM by MinM

Admitted liar and plagiarist, Gerald Posner, made no reference to Marrell McCullough.

I was shocked! :sarcasm:

20. More on Agent Provocateur Merrell McCullough in the "13th Juror"

CTKA Review: 13th Juror
Which now brings us to Merrell McCullough. McCullough was one of the informants masquerading as an Invader. Secretly, he was a police informant who was also connected to the FBI. It turns out that, before the murder, Merrell was introduced to Jowers as a policeman. (p. 184) Right before the assassination, McCullough had been in Jim's Grill meeting with four other men. (p. 188) One of whom was another member of the police force named Lt. Zachery. (p. 204) One of the extraordinary disclosures made at the trial concerned Sam Donaldson, the reporter who originally broadcast Jowers revelations in 1993. As we will see later, there was a backup hit team in town from military intelligence. We also know from a famous photograph that McCullough immediately ran up to the balcony after King was hit.

In that picture, while others are pointing to where they think the shot came from, McCullough appears to be calmly checking King for vital signs while looking across the way. According to what Donaldson told Young, McCullough was on the balcony to check King's pulse and make sure he was dead and signal the military sniper team that no second shot was needed...

11. It was very slick...
The parts with his fellow colleagues were excellent. Interspersing those great recollections of Martin Luther King Jr., with Lone-Nut Propaganda from the likes of Posner, not so much.

6. It's even easier to win a civil jury trial when the other side doesn't show up
Edited on Tue May-04-10 02:03 PM by jberryhill

And it's even easier when the "trial" is a television production, instead of an actual trial.

7. For those who would like to read the transcript of Kings v. Jowers
for themselves try this link:

http://www.thekingcenter.org/KingCenter/Transcript_trial_info.aspx

From the KING FAMILY STATEMENT ON THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT "LIMITED INVESTIGATION" OF THE MLK ASSASSINATION

After hearing and reviewing the extensive testimony and evidence, which had never before been tested under oath in a court of law, it took the Memphis jury only 1½ hours to find that a conspiracy to kill Dr. King did exist. Most significantly, this conspiracy involved agents of the governments of the City of Memphis, the state of Tennessee and the United States of America. The overwhelming weight of the evidence also indicated that James Earl Ray was not the triggerman and, in fact, was an unknowing patsy.

For those who think that this was a tv trial, get a clue.

8. Of course, you leave out the part where A.G. Janet Reno...
instructed the Civil Rights division of the DOJ, headed up by currebt A.D. Eric Holder to reinvestigate the case. Holder concluded that Jowers was not credible and the case had no merit.

Funny how you left that part out.

12. In fact: "U.S. Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder
said yesterday that the current federal inquiry into the case is unlikely to produce any criminal charges, despite the Memphis jury's decision.

"I suspect that, given the verdict, this will renew interest in the King assassination, and I suspect plant in the minds of many people doubts about some of those conclusions that were reached earlier," Holder said.

The Kings say they're no longer concerned with what others may do.

"We don't care what the Justice Department says," Dexter King said. "I doubt seriously they will indict themselves. We did not do this to force their hands."

"This case is over....We were never looking to put people in jail."

The family said it was hoping to "cleanse and heal and move on."

"It's not really who killed Martin Luther King Jr., but what killed him and why he was killed," his son said.

"He was killed because he was addressing injustices that today still have not been addressed."

He called the investigation into King's assassination "the most incredible cover-up of the century."

December 10, 1999, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Ernie Suggs, Cox News Service

I find it interesting that those who claim moral justification in JFK family members who believe there was no conspiracy against JFK, give no weight to MLK family members who do believe there was a conspiracy to kill their family member.

For those who are interested William Pepper answered the US Attorney General Report point by point in An Act of State. Chapter 12 p.218 - 261. Concluding with:

"The report thus rejects any and all facts, accounts, information, or evidence which are contrary to the official conclusion that James Earl Ray acted alone in carrying out the assassination of America's greatest prophet. It is, of course, naive to believe that if the government-at various levels-assassinated Dr. King, any investigation of the assassination which becomes an investigation of the government by the government could produce the truth. They can never admit what has been done. In this instance the modus operandi is strikingly demonstrated again and again. Any evidence which is contrary to the pre-ordained result, and which cannot be discredited, is simply ignored, not even raised or discussed...."

Just want to add that it has been odd that openly/publicly the family of JFK have

suggested they accept Warren Commission. Hard to believe and reports of great

intimidation vs the family make it even harder to believe. Personally, I think that

they were always working one way or another to uncover the truth.

And, I think that was a prime reason for killing Bobby --

18. Thank you -- I'll fav the link -- I have read quite a bit on it . . .
but wasn't there also a back up kill squad . . . just in case?

FBI team? Been a while since I read this ---

but certainly James Earl Ray -- and his family -- were highly intimidated --

Kinda reminds me of Marina Oswald in a way and how she was "handled" . . .

Look at Jack Ruby!

Recommend --

Pepper has done astonishing investigative work on this -- and, actually, on everything

he gets involved with!!

The videos he's done are also terrific.
