Troubling Personal Financial Arrangements of Barack Obama
Should President Obama continue to receive a salary, or should he instead be paid by the hour? Presumably his hourly rate would be high, but it could nevertheless be hourly, just as lawyers are often paid by their clients for billable hours.

As someone who receives a salary, he may feel that, if he were to spend any time at all on DU, he would be cheating the people. For example, he could choose a day off to visit DU, and with luck there would be no emergency business requiring his urgent attention that would interrupt his visit to DU and pull him back to work. Nevertheless, as someone on a salary, he might feel guilty about posting on DU.

Furthermore, if he were asked "who is paying you?" then he wouldn't be able to deny that the government pays him, just as the government pays Agent Mike. Although the ultimate source of the money may be taxes, it's nevertheless true that both President Obama and Agent Mike are on the government payroll.
